  • This Is It director Kenny Ortega pulled out of remake of Footloose

    This Is It director Kenny Ortega has said he pulled out of the remake of Footloose because he needed a break after shooting the Jacko movie.

    The 59-year-old was set to direct the remake of the 1984 flick, but he said the Jackson movie wasn’t planned and he needed a break after making it.

    Talking about his departure from the film, he said: “It was not planned. None of this [This Is It film] was happening when I started working on Footloose with Paramount.

    “I honestly love the team I was working with on it – Craig Zadan, Brad Weston, Neil Meron and Dylan Sellers, the actors. It had been a wonderful couple of years developing the idea but I really need to take a break.

    “I wish them all the luck in the world.”

  • Angelina Jolie battles with Megan Fox for role

    Actress Angelina Jolie is battling with Megan Fox for a role in the new remake of Barbarella.

    Jolie, 34, is reportedly feeling under threat from the 23-year-old.

    The pair both want to star in the remake of the 1968 film and are both auditioning for the lead role.

    A source revealed: “This will be the first time Ange and Megan have ever faced off for the same role.

    “Ange is really feeling the pressure. Ange knows that to win roles she has to look youthful.”

    The insider added: “Megan is stunning and fast becoming a huge star. Angelina is petrified.”

  • Chace Crawford trains hard for role in remake of Footloose

    Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford is spending nine months training for his new role in the remake of Footloose.

    Chace, 24, is set to take on Kevin Bacon’s role of Ren McCormack in the remake of the 1984 musical.

    The film isn’t due to start filming until next year, but Chace is getting plenty of practice in.

    He said: “We don’t start shooting till March, but I started getting into some training. I’m going to need the whole nine months to really get to where I need to be.”

    Asked if he is a good dancer, he said: “I have some movement and I’m really happy to learn a lot of new stuff, but I’m counting on the magical editing to make me look really good!

    “But they put me through a screen test, which was pretty rigorous, so I must have the foundation for it.”

  • X-men star James Marsden is to star in a remake of the 1971 film Straw Dogs, according to reports

    X-men star James Marsden is to star in a remake of the 1971 film Straw Dogs, according to reports.

    Marsden, 35, will play screenwriter David Sumner, who moves to his wife’s hometown in the Deep South, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

    Marsden will replace legendary actor Dustin Hoffman, who played the role of Sumner in the 1971 flick directed by Sam Peckinpah.

    The original was filmed in rural England, as opposed to the US where the remake will be set.

    Marsden is best known for his roles in the X-Men films, as well as 27 Dresses and Superman Returns.

    Both films are based on the book called The Siege at Trencher’s Farm by Gordon Williams.
