  • Hope for Haiti reaches beyond record to raise $57m+

    The Hope for Haiti telethon reached over and above disaster relief records to raise a staggering $57 million – and counting.

    The blockbuster tally emerged over the weekend following the star-studded call-a-thon put together at the 11th hour by George Clooney and Wyclef Jean and held on Friday.

    Stars such as Rihanna, Bono, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson and Madonna gave stirring performances, while countless others, including Mel Gibson, Meg Ryan, Jennifer Aniston, Ellen DeGeneres, Stevie Wonder and Cindy Crawford, manned the phones.

    Clooney, who emerged in a goatee and plain sweater, said: “At the core of every religion is the belief that we care for one another, we take care of each other especially in times of need. The Haitian people need our help, they need to know they’re not alone, they need to know we still care.”

    Lisa Paulsen, head of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, said the event has set a record for disaster relief telethons.

    Broadcast from New York, Los Angeles, London and Haiti, it was beamed around the world by all the big US TV networks and streamed via YouTube and other internet channels with the aim of reaching into 640 million households. Recordings of the event were instantly available on iTunes and other music sites.

  • Tate Donovan buries the hatchet with exes Jennifer Aniston and Sandra Bullock

    Actor Tate Donovan has revealed that he thought his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Aniston looked “gorgeous” at the recent Golden Globes ceremony.

    The OC star, who has several celebrity exes including Sandra Bullock and Aniston – to whom he was engaged in the 1990s – said that he had run into a few of his former partners at the awards ceremony last Sunday.

    He said: “I ran into Sandy [Bullock] and a lot of my exes there. It’s been 150 years, so if you can’t bury a hatchet after that amount of time…”

    The Damages actor, 46, also revealed his thoughts about Aniston’s outfit – a black dress with a split up the side.

    He enthused: “I thought she looked gorgeous!”

    His comments have led many to wonder whether he and Aniston, 40, who is rumoured to be dating actor Gerard Butler, will rekindle their love.

  • Golden Globes menu a master of a chef’s challenge

    The creme of the celebrati will dine on a menu of braised beef short ribs and artichoke sweet pepper ragout that was planned six months ago.

    Suki Sugiura, executive chef at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, is faced with the challenge of satisfying the most calorie-compromised of palates. Among this year’s guests at the awards show on January 17 are Jennifer Aniston, Steven Spielberg and Mickey Rourke – not to mention 1300 other Tinseltown players.

    Sugiura, who has four Globes dinners to his credit, and a kitchen staff of more than 100 expect to clock on at 6am. “It’s the busiest day of the year,” he said.

    California agriculture will be highlighted on this year’s plate, with the mozzarella-and-eggplant salad, the chocolate-glazed, mandarin-filled dessert and every ingredient taken locally. The chef said:”This is a message from California. We’re taking advantage of the fact that some of the finest ingredients in the US are right here in California.”

    The cuisine is a much lighter approach he noted, with far less butter. Of cream, he just said: “Forget it.”

  • Golden Globes presenters: Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Mickey Rourke

    Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Mickey Rourke (pictured) were named presenters at next year’s 67th Golden Globe Awards.

    Matthew Fox of Lost will also star at the ceremony. Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio, will present the coveted Cecil B. DeMille Award to director Martin Scorsese in recognition of his lifetime achievement in cinema.

    The Globes awards, seen as a bellwether to the Oscars, will air on NBC on Sunday, January 17, at 8 PM ET.

    George Clooney’s wildly popular Up In The Air has garnered six nominations at the upcoming Globes, including Best Drama and Best Actor. Other Globe nominations along with Up In The Air for Best Motion Picture include, Precious, The Hurt Locker, Avatar and the Quentin Tarantino romp Inglourious Basterds.

    Actress Jennifer Aniston says she hasn’t had any disastrous first dates.

    In the star’s new film Love Happens Aniston goes on a terrible first date with a man but in real life she says she has been slightly luckier.

    She said: “I have to say that, luckily, I haven’t had one.”

    Yet Aniston does admit that she has some boring dates in her time.

    She added: “It’s that thing where you just want to go home and they’re like ‘So, do you want to go somewhere afterwards?’ And it’s like, ‘No.’”

    The 40-year-old also said that she has never called a friend to get her out of a bad date.

    She said: “Oh, God, no! I haven’t done that, but that’s really funny!”

  • Courteney Cox speaks about possibility of Jennifer Aniston joining her on Cougar Town

    Courteney Cox has spoken about the possibility of pal Jennifer Aniston making an appearance in her new show Cougar Town.

    The 45-year-old actress is starring in the new ABC TV series, which follows a woman in her 40s dating younger men. Aniston, 40, is currently starring in a movie called Pumas, which tells the story of two women in their 30s looking for men.

    Talking about the plot similarities, Cox said: “I did know about her movie. I’m not sure exactly what the storyline is other than it’s probably a woman. And I guess pumas are in their 30s. Isn’t that right? Pumas are in their 30s? Jaguars are in their 50s, and sabretooths go right into the 60s.”

    She also talked about a possible role for Aniston on her show: “She’s a good friend and I know she loves the show. I’m not going to say she is [going to do it] because I don’t know. [But if Bill Lawrence] writes her a character, I’m sure she’ll be glad to do it.”

    Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston reportedly “quiets her mind” by doing yoga every other day.

    Jennifer, 40, is said to do yoga almost every other day and, according to reports, said that it has helped to make her legs leaner, her arms stronger, limbs longer as well as improving her posture.

    Reports also claim she said her muscles are more toned and the work-out is like a therapy session.

    Jennifer split with husband Brad, 45, in 2005 and she reportedly said that yoga helped her to recover from the split.

    Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, who is president of the Universal Society of Hinduism, said in a statement that he invites other Hollywood stars to explore yoga, which has been referred to as a “living fossil”.

    Zed added that some sages had described yoga as the “silencing of all mental transformations”.

    Scottish hunk Gerard Butler has hit back at claims he is seeing co-star Jennifer Aniston, saying he only spoke to her for four minutes before rumours they were dating emerged.

    The 39-year-old is currently filming The Bounty with the Friends star.

    Butler said: “In the last year, there have probably been rumours of ten different women I’m supposed to be involved with. I think maybe one is true.

    “You can walk around with a hundred of your buddies and it’s cool, but the second there’s a woman involved… But the new one is Jennifer Aniston. It’s because she’s single and I’m single.

    “The sum total of our conversation was about four minutes at the Toronto Film Festival.

    “The next day, the story is: ‘Gerry Butler and Jennifer Aniston get cosy at the Toronto Film Festival.’ Cosy? We were standing up and surrounded by 40 people.”

    Before becoming Hollywood’s latest leading man, the Scot was heading for a legal career.

    Butler’s legal career was cut short and his transition to actor eased when he was fired from a law firm a week before he was supposed to qualify as a lawyer.

    He was sacked during the Edinburgh Festival when his mind was on things other than work.

    “I became quite infamous in Scottish legal circles,” he says. It’s very difficult to be fired as a trainee lawyer – they just don’t qualify you at the end of two years. But they actually fired me one week before I was due to qualify.”

    Megan revealed that she doesn’t get much hassle from photographers, compared to the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Jennifer Aniston and Britney Spears.

    She said: “I see some people who have to deal with it on an everyday basis.

    “I am not a Jennifer Aniston or a Britney Spears or even a Lindsay Lohan, you know?

    “My pictures don’t sell for that kind of money.”

    But she did admit that the paparazzi interest in her stopped her doing a lot of day-to-day tasks.

    She revealed: “There have been times that people don’t want to hang out with me because they don’t want to end up on the internet.

    “I sometimes just turn around and go back home and don’t do anything and have to have someone go and do my grocery shopping.”

    An onlooker said: “They were having a lot of fun, laughing and dancing. Both of them seemed to be loving the attention of bemused diners.

    “Courtney grabbed Jen’s hand at the bar and they were giggling with their fingers intertwined. Rumours they’d had a terminal row were total rubbish.”
