  • Matt Damon disappointed with Obama

    SPL56373_004

Matt Damon, up for the role of a Kennedy, is not satisfied with Barack Obama’s performance.

The actor said Obama’s health-care proposal and Afghanistan track record have left him disappointed.

Damon, who campaigned for the Democrat in 2008, said: “Politics is compromise. I’m disappointed in the health-care plan and in the troop build-up in Afghanistan.”

Damon, meanwhile, confirmed he was in talks for a role as Robert “Bobby” Kennedy, the brother of the late President John F Kennedy, in a yet-to-be-titled biopic. Robert was assassinated in 1968 in Los Angeles.

He added: “Everyone feels a little let-down because, on some level, people expected all their problems to go away.

“But real change comes from everyday people. You can’t wait for a leader.”

  • Angelina Jolie ‘rows’ with Brad Pitt over US President Barack Obama

    SPL82554_005

Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie is reportedly not keen on US President Barack Obama and constantly argues with her boyfriend Brad Pitt, who is a big fan.

A source close to the 34-year-old star said to Us Weekly: “She hates him [Obama].”

The source added: “She’s into education and rehabilitation and thinks Obama is all about welfare and handouts. She thinks Obama is really a socialist in disguise. Angie isn’t Republican, but she thinks Obama is all smoke and mirrors.”

However, Pitt, 45, doesn’t share her political views and is a fan of the President.

The source added: “They get in nasty arguments all the time about it. She doesn’t respect Brad when it comes to politics, but, in the end, this won’t tear them apart.”

  • Serena Williams says thrill of opening Kenya school beat Wimbledon

For Serena Williams cutting the ribbon on the school she founded in Kenya beat raising a silver salver high at Wimbledon.

In London for the superstar tennis meet, Williams spoke of the thrill of her great charity adventure to a Sunday Telegraph interviewer. “When we cut the tape, I had shivers up my spine, I got tears in my eyes, and I had never had such a great experience in my life, not holding up a Wimbledon trophy, not holding up any grand slam trophy.”

The Serena Williams Secondary School in Matooni, in the east of Kenya, is for village children in the region. “It was a great experience because, man, I’ve done a lot of things in this life for me, like working out and playing tennis and winning.

“All that has opened doors to allow me to do other things for other people … I’ve realised that if you get great opportunities yourself, then you should give back.

“I was thinking that these kids in Kenya – and there are kids in the same position in America – don’t have two parents, some don’t even have one parent. I’m blessed to have two parents. And I’m really blessed to have had these opportunities, so I should try to give back. So that is what I did in Kenya. I went there and opened the Serena Williams School.”

  • Harrison Ford takes family to visit the White House

Hollywood star Harrison Ford is no stranger to the White House.

He played a President in Air Force One, played someone protecting the president and even went to high school with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

So it was no surprise the actor has just taken a tour of the famous presidential home in Washington DC.

Ford took fianceé Calista Flockhart and her son Liam on the tour over the weekend and the group spent time inside the White House briefing room.

In there they snapped photos while Flockhart asked Liam: “Isn’t this cool?”

Ford and Flockhart also spent time looking at the name tags under the chairs and pointed at White House Press Corp member Helen Thomas’s chair.

According to a report on politico.com Ford asked a White House aide if President Obama had actually done a briefing in the briefing room.

But the aide told him no, mostly because of the room’s shortage of seats.

American healthcare will never be the same again if reports that Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN’s chief medical correspondent has indeed been offered a job by President-elect Barack Obama as US Surgeon General. People Magazine has named Gupta one of the Sexiest Men Alive in its 2003 issue and this has made him quite a celebrity not only in CNN but even in Hollywood. Gupta’s stance in steering clear of Obama-related issues has been interpreted by some sectors as proof that he is indeed joining Obama’s administration.

The 39-year old Gupta, who is a graduate of the University of Michigan and, has served as special advisor to former First Lady Hillary Clinton prior to joining CNN in 2001. He is the anchor of “House Call”, a columnist for the Time, a podcaster and part of the highly successful television show ER. • MAKING MONEY ON CHANGE

Hollywood’s looking to make some money on the back of ‘change’!
NBC is now developing a comedy show which is highly based on the book Making Friends With Black People, reports Variety.
The show will obviously be focusing on the state of race relations in the U.S.
The show’s story will be centered on two guys — one African-American and one white — who become close friends, but who don’t necessarily see things the same way.
The book’s author, Nick Adams, said, “From time to time, race bubbles up in the consciousness of the country and then dissipates. Now, with Obama, people are talking about race a lot more. We hope to capitalize on that and not let the dialogue die down. … It seemed like a good opportunity to strike while the iron is hot.”
    Good for you NBC!

  • John Mayer Blogs for Barack Obama

John Mayer has been known as an avid blogger. He usually just rants off about nothing though. Putting his blogging to good use, he wrote for the Huffington Post about his support for Barack Obama and his belief in hope. He said “I believe the definition of the “hope” that Barack Obama enthuses operates on the unspoken thesis that there has to be a polar opposite to the despair of 9/11. Because if we accept that there’s not, the will to live becomes forever altered. To adults who will vote for him, Barack Obama represents a return to prosperity. To the youth, he represents an introduction to it.”
