Tiger Woods was set to appear at the Masters tournament in Augusta, Georgia.

“It’s where I’m used to seeing him. All of a sudden he appeared behind me. He was all business as usual – hit 10 balls and go play,” said Paul Casey, a pro golfer. Casey spoke to Woods, People reports.

Players seemed warm to Woods, who has been shamed by revelations he had multiple affairs while touring the world for his sport.

London’s TimesOnline reports Lee Westwood, Britain’s highest-ranked player, Padraig Harrington and Geoff Ogilvy, a former US Open winner, were all happy to play alongside him.

Westwood said: “I’d love to be paired with him. I don’t think there will be any issues for any of the other players. The only issue coming back to play is going to be for Tiger — whether he is ready or not and whether he can handle the media spotlight and all the speculation.”

Woods’s chances at the Masters were open, according to Westwood. He noted the challenge: “It’s very difficult not to be competitive for five months and go straight into somewhere that’s about the toughest test of the year.”

The England midfielder wore one regular shoe when he was seen out in Los Angeles and the other in a cast. Witnesses said he appeared to hobble as he walked to his car.

However, optimists noted that Beckham was carrying his children, suggesting that the boot – which looked more like a ski boot – was a preventive measure ahead of the Galaxy’s face-off with Real Salt Lake in the final of the MLS Cup on Sunday in Seattle.

The Galaxy are favourites to win. A victory would be their best result in the three seasons since Beckham showed up.

Actress Jennifer Garner proved that she knows the starting line-up for the Boston Red Sox.

On last night’s The Jay Leno Show, the star was made to recite the starting line-up for the Red Sox in order to earn the right to promote her new movie, The Invention Of Lying, in a segment of the show called Earn Your Plug.

The 37-year-old Alias actress wanted to “annoy” husband actor Ben Affleck by naming all the players – which she managed to do.

After Garner completed the challenge, she revealed that she and Affleck watch all the games as the State Of Play star is a dedicated fan.

The couple married in 2005 and have two children together, Violet, three, and eight-month-old Seraphina.

Russell Crowe has given one of his infamous pep talks to the Sydney rugby league team he co-owns.

Back from his UK stint as Robin Hood, Crowe put fire in the belly of the South Sydney “Rabbitohs” team, who have failed to make the finals.

“I want to win every year, there is not a single game or minute when it comes to South Sydney where my principal instinct is nothing but winning. It’s just not good enough and it is not what we are geared to do. But there is another guy around here who I know is as focused as I am and that is [coach] Jason Taylor.”

Crowe said the team would inch its way back. “Step-by-step we are getting to where we want to be, this season is the first time a South Sydney squad has scored more than 500 points in a season. Step-by-step we are getting to where we want to achieve, and that is to be a regular powerhouse in the NRL.”

Crowe was very confident in discussing the prospect of young English prop Sam Burgess joining the team. “He is very keen to join South Sydney, he has one green eye and one red eye already.”

But chief executive Shane Richardson was measured. “We still have a bit to go to get Sam. He is contracted to Bradford for next year so I don’t want to comment about when he will come, but the sooner we get him here the better.”

Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo is in the middle of a bidding war for his mansion as a host of players are trying to buy the property.

Cristiano, 24, recently signed an £80 million transfer deal to move to Spanish club Real Madrid. The star has since put his seven-bedroom mansion in Cheshire, UK, up for sale.

The footballer bought the property for £3.85 million in 2008 and it has since gone up for sale at £4.5 million. Players bidding for the property include Carlos Tevez, 25, Emmanuel Adebayor, 25, and Gareth Barry, 28.

However, player Kolo Toure, 28, is currently leading the bid after putting in an offer of £5.5 million.

A source said: “All the big players signing for City are having a sniff around Cheshire for the best house.

“Toure has made the biggest offer so far, but the others haven’t given up on the chase yet. They all have deep pockets.”

Footballer David Beckham is reportedly considering a move back to his old club Tottenham.

David, 34, is said to be looking for houses in London as he prepares to think about leaving LA Galaxy to return to the Premiership. His contract with the Galaxy is up in November when the season ends.

Becks attended Tottenham’s school of excellence before he signed with Manchester United and his family are said to be fans of the club.

A family friend said: “They are looking at properties in London. Most fans associate David with United, but his first club with Spurs and his family are massive fans. It’d be like returning to his spiritual home.”

The club’s manager Harry Redknapp admitted he would love to snap Becks up to play for the club.

He said: “To have someone like Beckham at your club… if the opportunity came and someone said he was available, any club would have to think about it.”

Gladiator star Russell Crowe, as famous for his temper as his acting, was finally put in his place at Wimbledon.

The star was unhappy with the seating he was given during the men’s final of the tennis grand slam.

Crowe – who was once charged for hurling a telephone at a hotel clerk in New York – wanted to change seats at Sunday’s match between Andy Roddick and Roger Federer.

The Australian superstar pointed where he wanted to watch the final because he was not happy with the seating arrangements allocated to him.

But, a Royal Navy security guard would have none of Crowe’s pleas and told him to get back to his original seat during what turned into an epic five-set match between Federer and Roddick.

Although the Oscar winner tried to argue his case, Crowe eventually conceded defeat and returned to his original seat.

Crowe later appeared to be calm as he was spotted sitting behind movie director Woody Allen.

Other celebrities watching the tennis action included Kate Winslet and former Wimbledon champion Pete Sampras.

For Serena Williams cutting the ribbon on the school she founded in Kenya beat raising a silver salver high at Wimbledon.

In London for the superstar tennis meet, Williams spoke of the thrill of her great charity adventure to a Sunday Telegraph interviewer. “When we cut the tape, I had shivers up my spine, I got tears in my eyes, and I had never had such a great experience in my life, not holding up a Wimbledon trophy, not holding up any grand slam trophy.”

The Serena Williams Secondary School in Matooni, in the east of Kenya, is for village children in the region. “It was a great experience because, man, I’ve done a lot of things in this life for me, like working out and playing tennis and winning.

“All that has opened doors to allow me to do other things for other people … I’ve realised that if you get great opportunities yourself, then you should give back.

“I was thinking that these kids in Kenya – and there are kids in the same position in America – don’t have two parents, some don’t even have one parent. I’m blessed to have two parents. And I’m really blessed to have had these opportunities, so I should try to give back. So that is what I did in Kenya. I went there and opened the Serena Williams School.”

Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo will not face charges after writing off his Ferrari.

The 24-year-old Manchester United player, who is the subject of an £80m bid from Real Madrid, hit a barrier inside a tunnel in January and wrote the vehicle off.

However, police say they will take no further action as no one was hurt and nobody else was involved.

A source at Manchester United said: “Ronaldo will be relieved. He was worried about this.”

Footballer David Beckham has backed the UK’s bid to hold the 2018 World Cup competition.

The 34-year-old footballer joined other footballers to kick off the UK’s bid in his home country of the UK.

Speaking at Wembley Stadium, he said: “To have the World Cup in your own country is the dream of any player. I know first-hand the passion of our fans and they would provide an incredible atmosphere at every game.”

He added: “There is no bigger support than our fans. We’re renowned for getting excited by big events and I don’t think any other country can compete with us for that.”

He added: “Every time I played with the biggest players in the world, like Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo, they all asked what it was like playing in England.”

When Dallas Cowboys star Tony was questioned about the split, he fumed: “I’m not talking about Jessica.”

Jessica’s dad, Joe Simpson, refused to confirm the split, saying: “I don’t know anything about Tony and Jessica.”

Although a representative for the couple denied they had broken up, sources insist they are no longer together. At the weekend, Tony partied at Chicago club Manor and was surrounded by a string of beautiful women.

Yesterday, it was reported Jessica went on a drinking binge after discovering ex-boyfriend John Mayer is dating Jennifer Aniston. The blonde beauty, her best friend Cacee Cobb and Cacee’s boyfriend Donald Faison reportedly spent four hours drinking at California’s Mexicali Cocina Cantina restaurant, according to internet gossip blogger Perez Hilton.

At the end of the session, Jessica was said to be so drunk she had to call her mother Tina to pick her up and drive her home.
