  • Tyler Perry accused of pilfering gospel verse for flick

    Playwright and director Tyler Perry plagiarised from a gospel song for his movie Madea Goes To Jail, a federal lawsuit alleges.

    The lawsuit alleging copyright infringement was filed by a representative of late gospel singer Bertha James. It claims Perry has taken a verse from a song James wrote in 1950 titled When I Think of the Goodness of Jesus.

    The lawsuit obtained by TMZ charges Madea with “incorporating the entire Chorus in a monologue delivered by the main character in Madea referencing her deliverance from a jail sentence”.

    The estate of the late James also names Lionsgate Entertainment in the suit, which seeks unspecified damages.

  • Jonas Brothers New Soundtrack Available Now

    The Soundtrack to Jonas Brothers’ new film “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience” is available today! The jam packed album includes live versions of favorites like “Hello Beautiful” and “S.O.S” as well as performances with Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato, a Shania Twain cover, and one new, never-before-heard studio recording called “Love Is On Its Way.” The highly anticipated film goes behind-the-scenes with Kevin, Joe and Nick on last year’s Burning Up Tour, following their every move along the way.

  • The Pussycat Dolls Team With AR Rahman for Slumdog’s Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny)

    The Pussycat Dolls have teamed up with two time Oscar winner A.R. Rahman for an English interpretation of the song “Jai Ho!”, the spectacular finale to the Oscar winner for Best Picture, Slumdog Millionaire. Listen here for a preview of A.R.   • Free Ryan Gosling Recording


    Ryan Gosling’s indie rock band Dead Man’s Bones just posted a live MP3 recording of their new song ‘In the Room Where You Sleep’ from their music video wrap party. The band recently wrote on their MySpace page “The album is coming, the album is coming. We just wanted to give you this live recording for your iPods or whatever.” The Silver Lake Conservatory of Music Children’s Choir is also featured on the live recording as they are on what would be the album version of the song. It looks like the actor is really serious about going into music. Maybe that’s why we hardly see him doing films.

  • Hilary Duff is Angelina Jolie

    Hilary Duff and her hockey player boyfriend Mike Comrie decided to dress up as another pair of celebrities for Halloween. Hilary dressed up as Angelina Jolie with Mike being her Brad Pitt. I don’t know. He looks more like a less scruffy David Cook to me. Hilary does a good Angelina though. Recently, the 21-year old singer and actress released her ‘Reach Out’ music video via MySpace Music. It received a lot of buzz for her thumb-sucking. The song is the first single off of Hilary’s compilation album entitled ‘Best of Hilary Duff’. It is due to drop in stores on November 11.

  • Miley Cyrus Makes the Rounds

    Miley Cyrus made her talk show rounds as she performed during ABC’s Good Morning America in Bryant Park on Friday in New York City. The 15-year old Disney superstar performed three songs, namely ‘Fly on the Wall’, ‘7 Things’ and ‘See You Again’. She also did an interview with them. Later that day, Miley made a stop at MTV Studios in Times Square to tape an appearance on TRL. With her album ‘Breakout’ coming out on Tuesday, I guess this makes it her promo tour. Her taped appearance on TRL will actually be for two days as she co-hosts on two shows.

  • Rhys Ifans records track for Sienna Miller

    Rhys Ifans has written a lament for Sienna Miller.

    The ‘Notting Hill’ actor bears his soul on the track ‘Stonefinger’ and admits he was “heartbroken” when he recorded the vocals to the track for his new band The Peth – Welsh for The Thing.

    The song features lyrical outpourings from Rhys such as: “Every little thing you said would break me /All of it came true / Every bit of love I give / You mock It / Yes you do.”

    Rhys’ heartfelt track will feature on the band’s forthcoming debut album ‘The Golden Mile’ – named after an area in Cardiff where the band used to hang out. The band’s sound has been likened to Oasis and Super Furry Animals – a band which Rhys was an early member of.

    Sienna, 26, dramatically dumped 39-year-old Rhys in June, leaving him distraught.
    After a series of drunken nights out in London, Rhys retired to his home country, Wales, where he set to work on the record.

    Since their split, Sienna has been linked to her ex-boyfriend and ‘Edge of Love’ co-star Matthew Rhys and oil tycoon Balthazar Getty, who is married with four children.

    Paris Hilton is looking to get another go at the music industry. The socialite is going to be teaming up with her boyfriend Benji Madden this time around to start writing her own songs. Oh how I wish I was just kidding. The couple is said to have started working out of her new recording studio insider her Beverly Hills mansion. They’re even going to write the theme song for her new MTV reality show ‘My New BFF’. Paris says “Benji and I have been working hard on it. He’s helping me write the lyrics for the song and then I’ll sing it, too.”

    For most women their wedding day is the best day of their lives. Singular; “day”. But not Mariah Carey, because she plans to repeat her wedding annually.

    The ‘Touch My Body’ singer and new husband Nick Cannon, who wed in a secret ceremony in April, plan to tie the knot once a year.

    She said: “Nick’s plan is to have one wedding every year. I think instead of trying to be like, ‘You’re invited, but shhh, don’t tell anybody’, we’re just going to have another wedding next year.”

    Mariah, 38, admits there were more hairdressers and stylists than guests at her wedding. She told US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres: “It was mostly attended by people who were responsible for my hair and people helping me with the dress. There were only three of my friends and Nick had three people with him. There weren’t a lot of people taking pictures!”

    The pop superstar, who is divorced from music mogul Tommy Mottola, believes she has found her soulmate in Nick – who she first met on the video for her new single ‘Bye Bye’.

    Echoing Nick’s half-brother Reuben Cannon’s insistence the couple will have children soon, Mariah said: “I always said if I found the right person who I felt would be on the same page as me in term of raising kids and having the same belief system, we’d have kids. I’ve always had a weird thing about it because my parents divorced when I was three and I didn’t have many examples of what was the ‘norm’.”

  • Tokio Hotel will perform on Late Night with Conan O’Brien

    Tokio Hotel have just announced they will perform “Ready, Set, Go!” on Late Night with Conan O’Brien on May 9th.

    Thanks to the massive amounts of on-line votes, the diehard Tokio Hotel fans have booked the band another spot on TV with a #2 video (“Ready, Set, Go!”) today on MTV’s TRL.

    Tokio Hotel will release the U.S. version of Scream on May 6th.

  • Leona Lewis told to shape up for US

    Leona Lewis has been told to shape up if she wants lasting success in the US.

    The ‘Bleeding Love’ singer, who recently topped The Billboard album and singles charts, reportedly needs a ’sexier’ image so her team have hired Mariah Carey’s personal trainer.

    A source said: “Leona has done brilliantly in the US. But some of her team think she needs to be a bit sexier if she wants to have the longevity of female artists like Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson or Madonna. Her looks needs to be more polished. They think that having Leona work with Mariah’s trainer Patricia Gay would be a treat for her because she adores Mariah.”

    Leona, 23, will reportedly fly to the Caribbean for ‘intensive sessions’ with Patricia to help get her into shape.

    Mariah recently revealed she regularly flies Patricia – who helped Mariah shed around 30lbs – from St. Barts to her New York apartment for their training.

    The ‘Touch My Body’ star has insisted she can’t see any similarities between Leona’s music and her own and claims there will never be a “new” Mariah.

    She said: “Honestly, there has been so many, ‘This is the new her,’ and I’m like, ‘OK, show me the new her.’ And I’m not particularly talking about this girl Leona, because I only heard her once and I didn’t really hear a true similarity, particularly in the style of music.”

    Kristy Lee Cook should be jumping for joy right now as country legend Dolly Parton will be appearing as a special guest on American Idol on Tuesday. The country crooner will be a mentor to the finalists on April 1’s show and the night will be filled with her songs. Dolly will also return on Wednesday’s results show to perform her single ‘Jesus & Gravity’, the second single from her new album ‘Backwoods Barbie’. Like I said, Kristy Lee should be jumping for joy since she sings country. To be honest, I’m interested on what David Cook will do with a country song.
