  • Kiss fires up Downey in Iron Man 2

    The new trailer for the film – set to hit cinemas in May – gives a sneak peek at what fans can expect from the comic book sequel.

    It certainly doesn’t disappoint, with never-before-seen scenes featuring Mickey Rourke as Whiplash, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Don Cheadle as War Machine.

    Downey has said the new film will stick to the formula that made the first such a box office smash – describing it as a high-tech James Bond.

    He says he wanted to make sure the plot of the second film remained grounded and was lucky that, thanks to the success of the first film, producers allowed him to give plenty of input.

    “Once you tell a story pretty well, that’s usually where things start to get dull, and one or two or three things start to happen over and over again,” he said.

    “So, we made Tony Stark’s challenges very much outside the usual realm of activity. As much as anything else, it’s much more of a side job for him the second time around.

    “It would be so easy to go so far out it would be intergalactic and nothing would be grounded in reality any more.

    “But I think what worked for ‘Iron Man’ is that it almost seemed like something from the cover of Popular Mechanics.

    “These kinds of suits were starting to be made in the States and Japan, so people were responding to Iron Man almost as though it was a more of a high-tech James Bond.”

    The film hits cinemas on May 7, 2010.

  • Best and brightest hanker after moonshine tale

    Young Hollywood A-listers are itching to hitch their star to a Depression-era tale, Wettest County in the World.

    Agents for Shia LaBeouf (pictured), Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Gosling are said to have presented them to execs associated with the film project. Paul Dano and Michael Shannon have also been tied to the slated movie.

    Wettest County is a historical crime drama about bootlegging in the American South. Directed by Australian John Hillcoat, it is based on author Matt Bondurant’s story of his grandfather and two great-uncles – three brothers who made up a gang at the centre of the moonshine trade.

    The book also tracks a parallel story involving writer Sherwood Anderson, who was reporting the bootlegging story and preparing a 1936 novel titled Kit Brandon.

  • Scarlett Johansson not much of a “sporty” spice


    The former singer really felt the need to let the world know that she’s quite the couch potato. Her words were: “I’m so not a Sporty Spice – I’m a stay-at-home-and-veg Spice.” She apparently felt the urge for this confession after seeing her husband take part in a marathon and realizing she wouldn’t be able to do the same: “I went to some random spot and saw everybody going past. It was really incredible. I’m a horrible runner – I can barely put one foot in front of the other.” And you start to wonder how come there are people who write “self-help books” and make a fortune off of them. In a normal, logical world, you’d think she’d just start getting more exercise and period.

    Are you ready for more of Scarlett Johansson’s singing? While promoting her new movie ‘The Spirit’, Scarlett told MTV News that she’d like to record another album. What happened to doing it just for fun? She also said that this time, she wants to record original material instead of some covers. Though when asked if she still had to do covers, Scarlett said that she would cover the iconic reclusive Leonard Cohen. Fortunately for us, she also said that such an endeavor will have to wait as she is busy with making movies and her married life. She should really just stick to acting.

    Barely three months into her marriage with Ryan Reynolds, Scarlett Johansson is already raring to start a family. The 24-year old actress, who has topped the sexiest list surveys for quite sometime, is still very much in love with her husband and hopes they can stay like this forever.

    While her love life is abloom, Johansson’s career is also heading into the right direction with her new movie “He’s Just Not That Into You”. She said she has never met anyone who was willing to commit prior to meeting the 32-year old Ryan. Johansson has previously dated Josh Hartnett and Jared Leto.

    Johannson admitted to experiencing the craziest time of her life the months before they got married. However, the two has already settled down quietly and is enjoying wedded blissfulness while waiting for Johannson to get pregnant. The actress may be young but she is already getting worried about her biological clock. On the other hand, getting pregnant at this time may juts be the perfect timing for Johansson who will be filming her next movie “Amazon” later next year.

    After getting married incognito in September of this year, are very eager to start a family and are already intensely talking about having a child. A source recently stated: “Scarlett and Ryan are madly in love and want to start a family sooner rather than later.” Scarlett has recently finished work on her latest movie, “He’s not that into you” and will begin work on her next movie, “Amazon” at the beginning of the next year… so supposedly now would be a good time to get pregnant. I’m not quite sure what her next movie will be about, but I don’t know how well she will be able to play an Amazon with a child growing inside of her… but they can do wonders with make-up these days. So, without anything further to add, let the brooding begin!

    Scarlett Johansson is in no rush to wed Ryan Reynolds. The ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’ actress, who announced her engagement to the Canadian star in May, insists she is happy being ‘young and engaged’ for now.

    She told US TV talk show host Jay Leno: “We’re just enjoying our time. We are just recently – very recently – engaged. So we are just taking it easy. And there is no big plan yet. I mean, I’m 23. There is no reason to rush into it. Everything feels very natural and relaxed.”

    Last week, Scarlett revealed she was considering paying homage to Ryan’s home country by wearing a beaver crown when they tie the knot. When she was asked if she would consider wearing the unique headgear, Scarlett replied: “OK, that’s creepy – an animal on my head. If it’s alive, maybe. Um, I guess so. I don’t know! I’ll take it!”

    Scarlett and Ryan have been dating for more than a year.

    Yes, she auctioned herself off on Ebay. Well, not herself exactly, but Scarlett Johansson did auction off a date with herself for charity.

    The lucky winner spent a cool $40,100 for a night out with the celeb. The money will go to Oxfam America. The winner will get a date with her to the August premier of her upcoming movie He’s Just Not That Into You.

    Scarlett Johansson feels guilty about how easily she secured a record contract for her upcoming album of Tom Waits covers because she has musician friends who dream about releasing an album. Johansson was offered a deal after Warner Brothers talent scouts heard her sing on compilation album “Unexpected Dreams.” And the 22-year-old worries her struggling pals will hold her good fortune against her. You can’t feel bad for them and out can’t go out and tell them, hey look no big deal you can have my contract I’ll look for another one. It’s not a piece of your favorite cake and munchies that you could buy another one, this is serious business and the least you can do is introduce them to a producer but beyond that it’s fate and talent. You do your job and they will do theirs. Let’s see that how good you come with the opportunities that you have girl!

  • Scarlett Laughs Off Jameson Role

    Just yesterday it was reported that actress Scarlett Johansson had agreed to play the part of Jenna Jameson in a biopic on the porn star. Jameson herself fuelled the rumors that Johansson would be taking the part when she gushed about Scarlett’s acting and how she felt immediately that the actress could play her. I somehow don’t think it takes any real talent to be a porn start. Any peroxide blonde with a fake set could play Jenna Jameson just fine. Scarlett’s representative told press that she has never seen a script or been officially offered the role. She has no interest in it. This may come as a disappointment to Jameson but I’m sure it won’t take her long to get over it. I’m sure Scarlett’s rack is hardly big enough anyway. Aren’t there thousands of porn stars that all look the same? Any one of them could fill her shoes and in every way I’m sure. Anybody who really wants to see a biopic on Jameson has probably already seen everything else on her too.
