Michael Douglas and Glenn Close reunited on TV 22 years after Fatal Attraction
Fatal Attraction stars Michael Douglas and Glenn Close were reunited on screen for the first time in 22 years to reminisce on an Oscars TV special.
The pair tried to kill each other in the classic movie about a cheating husband’s affair going disastrously wrong – but they shared a warm hug and some memories.
Close recalled how she drank half a pitcher of margaritas for a steamy elevator sex scene in her role as an obsessed scorned mistress.
The stars were brought together by Oprah Winfrey for her Oscars Special.
Close told Douglas how she was gripped by the original script but had doubts about the infamous scene where her character literally boils a bunny.
She said: “I thought it was over the top.”
And recalling the elevator sex scene, she said: “I asked for a pitcher of margaritas and I drank about half of it.”
Douglas joked: “You were pretty good. I was a very happy guy.”
Close was “so mad” when the ending of the movie was changed to see her character shot dead by Douglas’s screen wife in a dramatic finale. But Douglas told her: “You were so good in the part everybody wanted you to be killed.”
After watching the classic clips, Douglas also sighed: “Man, I got older. You still look fantastic.”

Gayle King not ready to see BFF Oprah depart
Oprah Winfrey’s BFF Gayle King opened up to say how much she will miss the Oprah show.
The show is slated to wind up in 2011, with Oprah making a shock announcement about her retirement from television after 25 years late last year.
King, who now works for Winfrey, said: “I said to Oprah, ‘I’m having a hard time. I’m not ready.’ But, you know, I am ready for her. She makes the best decision for herself. I totally understand why she’s doing it. That said, I can’t imagine daytime TV without her.”
King hosts on Oprah Radio that is broadcast daily on Sirius XM. The show was recently extended from one hour to two. King said: “I don’t believe you have to annoy people to get them to listen or for them to like you. I’m not sitting here trying to be liked – but I do like to engage in conversation with other people, and I think it’s OK to agree to disagree without being nasty to each other.”
King, who is known to all Oprah fans, makes appearances on the show and is editor-at-large for O magazine, said of her future: “I know I will do something with OWN [The Oprah Winfrey Network], but I don’t know what that is. We’re trying to figure that out.”

Oprah presents record-breakers’ show in chocolate studio
Oprah Winfrey presented her show entitled ‘Incredible Feats’ in a studio made entirely of chocolate.
As well as chocolate walls, a chocolate chandelier and a chocolate fireplace, the American talkshow host was even surrounded by chocolate books, chocolate artwork and a chocolate painting of Chicago’s skyline.
Luckily for her guests, the chocolate chairs were just for show, and they were able to sit on regular cushioned seats.
Oprah’s sweet transformation came as she hosted the programme featuring record-breakers and guests with special talents.
The chocolate studio came courtesy of Godiva and was designed by Larry Abel and Raymond McAllister, who work for the chocolate manufacturer.
“We’re going to eat this when the show’s over,” she said. “Everyone will be so high, we’ll be swinging from the chandelier.”

Kirstie Alley whips out vodka in aircraft toilet
Kirstie Alley whips out the vodka whenever she is on a plane trip – to clean the loo.
Alley donned yellow dish gloves and took Oprah viewers back to the lavish colonial home of a childhood friend where she was once hired as a housekeeper, showing off her cleaning skills.
Vodka is Alley’s cleaning potion of choice, especially when she goes into an aircraft toilet.
“I think cleaning is an art,” declared Alley.
The weight-loss queen, who famously appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show in a bikini after a Jenny Craig dieting-spokesmodel stint, recommended cheap vodka. “Really cheap vodka. It’s antibacterial, not toxic, has no scent and leaves things really shining.”
Alley said the youthful housekeeping experience gave her an appetite for nice things, such as small manses and down bedding. She showed off a photo of a gorgeous historical home she drove past and admired for years before making it her own.
Alley updated Oprah about a weight loss before-and-after program that fell through when the network she was working with dropped the project. She said she was now signed a contract for another program. She said:”I have an amazing life. I really don’t collapse and fall down and I really don’t weigh 300 pounds.”

Oprah Winfrey’s mum settles clothing store lawsuit
Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey’s mum has settled a lawsuit with a high-end clothing store.
Vernita Lee allegedly owed Milwaukee’s Valentina Inc $155,000, seven years after a $174,000 shopping spree at the same shop got her into trouble.
Lee was sued in July 2008 by the store and was ordered to pay them $2,000 a month to settle her debt.
But that was challenged by her lawyers, who claimed that Lee had been extended another line of credit despite the 2002 bill of $174,000, which she was sued for and eventually paid.
Details of the latest settlement have not been made public, but Lee will reportedly make a “partial payment” to the store.
“We’re happy with what transpired. It’s over,” said Valentina co-owner Tony Chirchirillo.

Oprah Winfrey being sued over alleged jet sex claims
Oprah Winfrey is being sued for more than £200,000 for allegedly accusing one of the flight attendants on her private jet of a sex romp.
Corinne Gehrls, 39, alleges Winfrey accused her of having sex on board the chat show queen’s $42 million Global Express XRS jet.
She alleges in a lawsuit filed in Chicago that Winfrey’s god-daughter Kirby Bumpus, also a flight attendant, made up the story.
Gehrls and chief pilot Terry Pansing, 57, were fired in July after the allegations. Both passed a lie detector test, according to the lawsuit.
Gehrls claims the allegations were “obviously false” since the incident was said to have taken place while the plane was on the ground refuelling. The flight attendant said Winfrey and other passengers had taken sleeping aids and were “dozing” in their seats.
Also named in the lawsuit are Bumpus and Myron Gooch, a flight attendant who the suit claims made the same allegations against Gehrls.

Oprah Winfrey picks Nigerian priest for book club
Oprah Winfrey has chosen a Nigerian Jesuit priest as her 63rd influential book club selection.
Uwem Akpan said he was humbled to learn his debut short stories had caught her eye. Oprah picked Say You’re One Of Them [2008] after it “left [her] stunned and profoundly moved”.
The five short stories – which are the first chosen for the book club – give voice to an African child growing up in the face of incredible adversity. Winfrey’s deep commitment to African children is demonstrated by the school she has built there for girls.
Uwem Akpan, who runs a parish in Lagos, said, “I have permission to write, but I do not need an imprimatur from the church – that is more for people who are writing about theology and philosophy. They see that I am writing fiction and assume it is made up. Don’t forget that Jesus was a priest and a poet.”
Akpan is partly US-educated. He studied philosophy and English at Creighton and Gonzaga universities, followed by theology at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. He was ordained as a Jesuit priest in 2003 and received his master’s degree in creative writing from the University of Michigan in 2006.

Singing sensation Susan Boyle set to appear on Oprah Winfrey show
British singing sensation Susan Boyle, who has become a global phenomenon with the help of YouTube, will reportedly appear on the global Oprah Winfrey Show on Monday, May 11.
Boyle’s Britain Got talent Judge Simon Cowell will also appear on the show to showcase artists he considers ‘the next big thing’.
Winfrey’s production crew spent time with Boyle at her home in Blackburn, Scotland.
Boyle, 47, gave the crew a tour of her modest home, including interviews with her neighbours.
It is thought Oprah will interview Boyle from her home via Skype, rather than in person at Winfrey’s Harpo Studios. The title of the Oprah show is The World’s Got Talent.
Also set to appear are China’s Jane Zjong, who’s had 15 number one singles, and Alex Swings from Germany, who will perform via satellite.
Boyle has become a household name in the U.S appearing on all of the major morning and entertainment shows.
“Internet sensation and Britain’s Got Talent contestant Susan Boyle welcomes our cameras for a view inside her Scotland home, and makes her Oprah show debut,” the show said.

Jenny McCarthy joins forces with Oprah to launch her own chat show
Outspoken actress Jenny McCarthy is joining forces chat show queen, Oprah Winfrey – to launch a number of projects, including her own talk show.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, McCarthy, 36, has already launched her own blog on Oprah.com, with the most recent entry talking about PMS and sugar.
The trade paper likens McCarthy’s chances to break through to those others who previously have aligned with Winfrey, including Rachael Ray and Dr. Phil.
McCarthy has already been a frequent guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show, discussing, among other topics, how she took on the medical establishment to deal with her son Evan’s autism.

Oprah Winfrey and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are working together and warning fans about Oprah Winfrey’s alleged “generosity”, Oprah Winfrey may be generous but not to the point that she would give away $1 million for the lucky winner of a contest supposedly sponsored by the Oprah Winfrey Show.Oprah Winfrey and the FBI said there is an email scam targeting Oprah Winfrey’s fans. The email will inform the recipient that they have been chosen to join the “Oprah Millionaire Contest Show” special where one lucky audience member will win the jackpot if he can answer a handful of current events questions. Nothing wrong there—except that the recipient of the email would be asked to send money for airfare, show tickets and hotel to a Seattle address. And before you fall for this hook line and sinker, be aware that the production company and the studio of Oprah Winfrey’s show are in Chicago.

Every from Oprah Winfrey to God knows who not has given their advice on how Chris Brown and Rihanna should go about either mending or breaking their relation and now it is rap sensation Soulja Boy who has spoken out on the subject.Contrary to media mogul Oprah Winfrey telling Rihanna to never ever meet Chris Brown again Soulja Boy has urged the pair to do away with their past difference and renew their romance.

Atlanta school receives $365,000 donation from Oprah Winfrey
U.S. TV star Oprah Winfrey has donated a whopping $365,000 to a school in Atlanta and for that reason she has become a hit with students in that school which has students mainly for low-income group.Oprah Winfrey offered help worth $365,000 so as to ensure The Ron Clark Academy has enough money to continue providing education to 80 students.
Isn’t that simply awesome, that is the power that these celebrities have and those who decide to exercise the same for a cause that will help shape the lives of young people in this country is truly what star power is all about.
She realizes how important music coupled with education is & she is donating to a cause where she can see the living proof of her efforts. There are many other stars that have the ability but don’t do this. I wish I had the ability to do these wonderful things. God Bless her.
