Liam Gallagher’s new band
The singer has recently spoken out about his future musical project and what he has said for certain is that it will definitely not bear the name Oasis. This is what Liam Gallagher said on the matter: “It’s not Oasis. That was a shit name anyway. I’m glad to see the back of it. There’s one that we’re digging at the moment, but we’re going to get on with the music and see how it goes. If we haven’t got a better one by then, we’ll go with the one we’re into.” Strange how Liam Gallagher dishes the name of the band that made him famous… looks like somebody has a bit of rage bottled up in there. Oh well, he’ll have a good opportunity… hard-rock, eat your eyes out!

Sarah Harding living the dream
The singer from Girls Aloud has recently been given the chance to live out her dream: Sarah Harding will be staring in the movie “St. Trinian’s 2: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold”. This is what she said about this golden opportunity: “I’m just enjoying every minute of it at the moment. I’m getting to live out my fantasies. I’ve lived out my dream doing the singing and I never thought I’d get into doing the acting side of it as well, which is amazing. I’m very honoured and grateful that they are giving me a chance.” Why is it that every singer dreams of being an actor and most actors get into singing careers too? What happened to being thankful for what you have? What if Sarah Harding’s acting career gets the better of her? Won’t Girls Aloud be missing her?

Nick Lachey’s new job
The singer who was performing in a boy band a long, long time ago has apparently found himself a new job. Since the days of glory of 98 Degrees have long since passed, Nick Lachey is going to be using his talents now to host a new singing competition called “The Sing-off” where contestants will be performing strictly a cappella. Nick Lachey said the following about his brand new show: “There is nowhere to hide when you’re doing an a cappella song. There’s no band behind you and dubbing. It’s just you. It’s just them naked on stage and what they have done to prepare is what will show through in that moment.” Not a very good choice of words there for Nick Lachey, but if that’s the description they’re going to go with for the show, the ratings will probably be very high for the first installment.

Indie Drummer Dies from Tragic Accident
Drummer Jerry Fuchs passed away on Sunday morning after a tragic fall down an elevator shaft. The accident happened when the musician was attending a benefit to raise money for women in India. According to a Building Department spokesman, Jerry and his friend were in the elevator when it stopped on the fifth floor. Both men attempted the jump down but Jerry failed to make it due to a piece of clothing that got caught, “sending him swinging back into the crevice separating the elevator from the fifth floor.” The 34-year old was the beloved drummer for indie band such as !!!, The Juan MacLean, Maseratti, Vineland and Turing Machine. My condolences go out to the loved ones he left behind.

Michael Jackson’s Guitar Goddess Orianthi Readies Debut Album
Introducing Orianthi, the guitar phenomenon who is featured prominently in the upcoming Michael Jackson concert documentary, This Is It. Already a renowned musician, Orianthi has been playing guitar since the age of eleven and was discovered by legend Carlos Santana. After playing with artists like Carrie Underwood, ZZ Top, and Prince, she received a MySpace message from Michael Jackson’s musical director asking her to audition for his comeback tour. Following a test run with the King of Pop himself, she was selected as his lead guitarist for his O2 arena dates in London – a crowning acheivement for the 24 year old from Adelaide, Australia.
Now Orianthi is preparing to release her solo debut album, Believe, on October 27th. In addition to her talent at guitar, Orianthi has a gorgeous voice and even sang at Michael Jackson’s Staples Center memorial service. Even before starting rehearsals for his tour though, she was hard at work writing and recording the album with her band. Believe is full of anthemic rock tracks with a sound reminiscent of Paramore or Evanescence, but entirely Orianthi thanks to her signature shreds and thunderous hooks. Her first single, “According to You” is a catchy tale of an ungrateful boyfriend, featuring a killer guitar solo.

Kate Moss desperate to sing with The Kills
Supermodel Kate Moss has once again been begging her rocker boyfriend Jamie Hince to let her sing with his band The Kills.
The Sun newspaper claims that the row has erupted again because Moss has been asked to host a celebrity karaoke event called Hoping’s Got Talent.
People will pay for the privilege of singing alongside celebrities at the event at Cafe de Paris in London’s Leicester Square. And they will be judged by Moss and X Factor judge Louis Walsh.
A source told the newspaper: “Kate is keen on doing more singing, she wants her voice out there. But Jamie is refusing to even entertain the idea, saying bandmate Alison Mosshart will be livid.”

More Gossip Girl Music
It seems that Blake Lively is the only actor on the cast of ‘Gossip Girl’ without an up and coming music career. We all know about Taylor Momsen, Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick singing, now, Penn Badgley is talking about his own musical aspirations. The actor admits to love music and writing his own material. Don’t expect to hear any of his sweet sounds though as he has decided to stick to acting for the time being. Thank you for sparing me from having to listen to another wannabe! Penn said “I mean music is my first passion, but because of that I don’t really want to just take a first step in the wrong direction. At the moment, I just want to be sensible about what I do. I just write and I play, and that’s all I need for myself right now.” Maybe they could have a ‘Gossip Girl’ musical episode.

Seniors Love Country Music
Country musicians know how to take care of each other even as they grow older. After more than a decade of planning and budgeting, the Nashville music industry is set to build a $95 million senior living community which will be targeted to retirees from the music industry. As of right now, it’s set to open in 2013 in Franklin, Tennessee and will be called The Crescendo at Westhaven. The complex will featured apartments ranging from $300,000 to $650,000 and will even include financial assistance for those who are eligible. Country singer Martina McBride is supporting the project saying “It’s just very unique, and I think it really will fit the needs of so many people who have been involved in the music industry in such a special way.” Maybe she’ll be one of the first to occupy the place. -
Britney Spears on Top – One More Time
After a year’s downfall, Britney is back again for good.
Like her famous song, Britney is “One More Time” on the top of every celebrity poll.
According to a latest poll, the music enthusiasts have graded Britney’s performance at the MTV Video Music Awards 2008 on September 7 as the ‘Greatest Comeback Ever.’
The hot and sweet pop princess Britney Spears grabbed three awards during the ceremony.
The second place was secured by the British boy band “Take That”, for their comeback on the music arena in 2006 after an absence of 10 years.
Kylie Minogue managed to register the bronze-medal place for her comeback in 2006 after defeating cancer.
Britney! Stay at the place where you have reached after hard work.

George Michael is a Big Pop Star
George Michael was spotted just as he was leaving a London recording studio on Thursday. This time, instead of being slumped over the steering wheel of a car, he was photographed walking in between two cars. Is the beefy pop star working on a new album? If so, this is the first time I’m finding out. Let’s hope that his popularity with the fans will grow just as much as his waist. Otherwise, it’s a lost cause. How did he get so fat? He needs to work out some more. Where’s Richard Simmons when you need him? Then again, I’m not liking the idea of George in tight gym shorts.

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake together again? NOT!
Contrary to the report by the New York Post that claimed that Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake would be teaming up to record a duet for her new album, Access Hollywood claims that no duet is “scheduled” to take place between Britney and JT. Justin’s rep claims that Justin “is not scheduled to be in the recording studio with Britney.”
The two pop stars last public appearance together was when they shared the stage with Aerosmith, Nelly and Mary J. Blige at the 2001 Superbowl.
To the generation who grew up in the 90’s, this piece of news is definitely a letdown. However, we must keep our hopes up.
Justin’s rep claims that he “is not scheduled” to record a duet with her. This means that it could change and that they can schedule their duet. Although it still doesn’t confirm anything, you can pretty much assume what the rep is and isn’t saying. Saying something “is not scheduled” means, in rep lingo, that they are waiting for the artist to decide on the project. -
Tommy Lee wants Johnny Depp to play him
Tommy Lee wants Johnny Depp to play him in a film.
The Motley Crue rocker – who has two children with ex-wife Pamela Anderson – insists the Oscar-nominated actor would be the perfect star to portray him.
He said: “Johnny Depp would be my choice to play me. He’s the best ever.”
Tommy also revealed he is currently in talks with movie producers to start shooting the film, which will be based on the story of Motley Crue.
He added: “We’re working on it. Trying to find the right producers and director and all that sort of stuff!”
It was recently revealed Tommy – who reconciled with Pamela last month – has naked pictures of the former ‘Baywatch’ actress on his cell phone.
A friend of Tommy’s revealed: “Tommy is as proud to be Pammie’s man as he was when they first got together. Pammie may be 41 but she still looks every inch the Playboy bunny she was and Tommy has the proof. If you’re really nice to him, apparently he’ll even show you!”

Miley Cyrus Makes the Rounds
Miley Cyrus made her talk show rounds as she performed during ABC’s Good Morning America in Bryant Park on Friday in New York City. The 15-year old Disney superstar performed three songs, namely ‘Fly on the Wall’, ‘7 Things’ and ‘See You Again’. She also did an interview with them. Later that day, Miley made a stop at MTV Studios in Times Square to tape an appearance on TRL. With her album ‘Breakout’ coming out on Tuesday, I guess this makes it her promo tour. Her taped appearance on TRL will actually be for two days as she co-hosts on two shows. -
Kate Hudson Sings
No, Kate Hudson did not turn into one of those actress turned singer types. The actress has just landed a highly coveted role in the film remake of the Broadway hit ‘Nine’. She joins a cast that already includes Oscar winners Daniel Day Lewis and Nicole Kidman, as well as Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard. The actress more known for her romantic comedies has her work cut out for her. Apart from being among mega thespians, she also has to sing in the movie. I wonder if they will be using Kate’s actual voice or have someone else sing for her.

American Idol Drama
There’s more American Idol drama around even after the show is out for the season. A musicians union has filed a federal lawsuit against the producers of the show claiming that musicians were underpaid because the show’s live music was re-recorded for reruns. The lawsuit claims that the contract for the musicians working for the show says that they should be paid royalties for the rebroadcasts. The producers are required to pay 75% to musicians who appear in the original show and rehearsals as well as 10% of that pay to a union pension fund with decreasing percentages for each rebroadcast but it has not been done. The show is making tons of money, why are they trying to be cheap?

Madonna Spawn Loves Avril
Madonna’s 11-year old daughter, Lourdes Leon, brought along a few of her friends as she cheered on her favorite pop rocker, Avril Lavigne, at a concert held at the O2 Arena in London on Wednesday. And I thought her admiration for Britney Spears back in the day was scary. As for the tween’s mom, the Queen of Pop is currently gearing up for her own tour, the ‘Stick and Sweet’ concert tour, which will kick off in August in Cardiff, Wales in support of her latest album ‘Hard Candy’ which topped the charts at #1 back in April. Lourdes should just cheer on her mom. -
Wino’s Parents Want to be Like Brit’s Parents
Amy Winehouse is still keeping up her crazy antics and it’s made her loved ones want to take drastic measures. Wino’s dad Mitch has even come forward to say that he thinks rehab isn’t enough for his daughter and that he wants to do what Britney Spears’ parents did by forcing his daughter into a mental health facility. Mitch told UK’s News of the World “I want her sectioned (institutionalized). The situation is getting out of control. I want her off the street. I don’t think being somewhere for six weeks is going to cure her problems… I want Amy to be somewhere where she will be safe and where no harm can come to her. Obviously as her dad I will try and do what’s best for her. Unfortunately, what I think is best for Amy and what she thinks is best for her are two different things.” -
Tokio Hotel will perform on Late Night with Conan O’Brien
Tokio Hotel have just announced they will perform “Ready, Set, Go!” on Late Night with Conan O’Brien on May 9th.
Thanks to the massive amounts of on-line votes, the diehard Tokio Hotel fans have booked the band another spot on TV with a #2 video (“Ready, Set, Go!”) today on MTV’s TRL.
Tokio Hotel will release the U.S. version of Scream on May 6th.

Mariah Carey on Top
Despite not being able to conquer the top spot in the UK, Mariah Carey has garnered the top spot in the albums’ chart in America this week. She only came in at #3 in the UK with the top spot going to The Kooks. Her ‘E=MC2’ record had been projected to sell around 500,000 units in the US. As of Wednesday, it was reported that the album debuted to a pretty massive sale of approximately 475,000 copies sold. Congratulations to Mariah on that one. Now, the countdown is on to see how well Madonna will do on her first week.
