Jamie Foxx to play Mike Tyson

Jamie Foxx to play Mike Tyson
Jamie Foxx will play boxer Mike Tyson on the big screen. The ‘Ray’ actor has already started working with Tyson on a sensational biopic of his life, the controversial former heavyweight champion has revealed.

Tyson said: “Jamie Foxx and I will be working together. He will play me in the film about my life. We have already had several discussions about it.”

There will be no shortage of material for Foxx to work with. After reigning as the undisputed heavyweight champion from 1987 until 1990 Tyson’s life went into freefall when he was sent to jail for rape in 1992. After his 1995 release he continued to make headlines and caused outrage when he bit a chunk of rival Evander Holyfield’s ear off during a fight in 1992.

Tasty…

Tyson, who is currently fighting bankruptcy, admits he struggled to cope even during the peak of his success. The 41-year-old sportsman said: “Even when I was training for a fight I would drink. This is the first time I have been clean and sober in my whole life.”

In 2005, Fox was received a Best Actor Oscar for his performance as legendary singer and pianist Ray Charles in ‘Ray’.

Justin Timberlake’s Movie Career

He hasn’t scored a hit with his previous efforts but Justin Timberlake is going full-speed ahead on his acting career as he is slated to star in a new film called ‘The Open Road’. Variety is reporting that the 27-year old ‘Sexyback’ singer will play a young man trying to reconnect with his father (who will be played by Jeff Bridges), a legendary athlete, as he struggles to get him home to his ailing mother’s (played by Mary Steenburgen) bedside. Has he not learned? He should just stick to what his really good at – and that’s singing, writing and producing music.

RnB star Beyoncé Knowles has landed the role of famed blues singer Etta James in new movie Cadillac Records. It is reported that the Dreamgirls actress will join Adrien Brody, Jeffery Wright, and Cedric the Entertainer in the 1950s-set film.

Wow they are some big boots to fill. Beyoncé will have her work cut out to not upset the Etta James fans of the world. But we believe in her – you can do it girl!

Keifer Sutherland Released from Jail

After 48 days in the slammer, Keifer Sutherland was released just after midnight on Monday. He has been in since December 5 and was quite ready to head home to his own bed and some real food.

One of the officers on hand said, “Kiefer is excited to leave the jail and return to the safe and warm confines of his home. Kiefer was the model inmate while he served his time, and jokingly told jail staff that he won’t be doing any laundry anytime soon as he was relegated to endless hours of fluff and fold.”

Keifer originally agreed to the plea bargain of 48 days so he wouldn’t interrupt production of 24, meaning he had to spend the holidays and his birthday in jail. However, shooting of the show has been stopped for the writer’s strike anyway.

Johnny Depp to play Jackson?

Johnny Depp would love to play Michael Jackson in a movie about his life.

It was rumoured that the 44-year old actor based his Willy Wonka character in ‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’ on the eccentric singer. However he says, “I have heard that I based Willy Wonka on Michael Jackson before, but no, that was not my plan, I wish I had thought of that though. But there is still time to play him. He might get up to his old tricks again and maybe there will be a TV movie about him!”

Johnny - who stars as a murderous barber in ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’ - also revealed he had no intention of sounding like David Bowie in the musical film.

He added: “I wouldn’t ever dream of attempting to channel David Bowie because he is one of my heroes. But if there is a similarity it wasn’t intentional. It’s a nice compliment though.”

Vanessa Hard at Work

‘High School Musical 3’ is yet to start filming but Vanessa Hudgens continues to work hard. She recently exercised her magic at a Los Angeles studio on Tuesday. The ‘High School Musical’ star has been busy recording new songs and refining old ones for her sophomore album.

Her acting career may not have been affected by her scandalous pictures but I wonder if her music career will. We all know the formula of innocent teen turning racy as we’ve seen with the likes of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. I just find it highly ironic that all three of them happen to be Disney girls. What a trend!

Natalie Imbruglia

Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia just may be making quite the splash for her big-screen career soon enough. According to Australia’s Herald Sun, the singer/songwriter had supposedly auditioned for a role in fellow Australian Hugh Jackman’s ‘Wolverine’ a few weeks ago. There’s no word on what role she tried out for, though.

Last month, 28-year old Maggie Q was said to be the front runner for the role of Silver Fox, Wolverine’s love interest. So don’t go expecting Natalie to be playing that role if and when she is actually cast for the movie which would serve as a prequel to the highly successful X-Men trilogy.

Billy Ray Cyrus Wants to Film in TN

Billy Ray Cyrus Wants to Film in TN

Pre-teen fans are anxiously awaiting Billy Ray Cyrus’ upcoming film with daughter Miley. The Disney Channel stars are working out the details for the filming of their Hannah Montana movie. Cyrus is hoping filming will take place in their home state of Tennessee.

The movie is based on the duos popular Disney Channel series where Miley plays Miley Stewart, a young girl who moves from Tennessee to Malibu to live out the dream as a pop star. By day, she is simply Miley, a high school student who gets in her share of normal teenage scrapes. In the evening hours, she secretly performs as Hannah Montana, a popular musical performer.

In the proposed movie version, the Stewarts make a return visit to Tennessee. Billy Ray feels strongly that it should be filmed there as well.

Billy Ray reportedly told the Associated Press, “The thing of it is, Walt Disney really wants to film this movie in Tennessee.” The problem is that there may not be enough financial backing coming from state officials. It isn’t that officials don’t want the film, though. The executive director of the Tennessee Film, Entertainment, and Music Commission is quoted as saying, “It would mean a real impact on tourism and it would be a family friendly film that would come to the state.”

Louisiana is competing for the filming privileges. Tennessee officials are anxious to make their offer and see how it compares to that of Louisiana.

The Cyrus’ spent Thanksgiving in Tennessee with family and celebrated Miley’s 15th birthday with a sold-out concert show in Nashville. They are looking forward to the possibility of returning in April to shoot the film.

Can you blame the guy? I mean, after all, who doesn’t want to work from home?

Kim Cattrall Desperate For Money

kim_cattrall-sexy.jpg

Actress Kim Cattrall only agreed to reprise her role as sassy Samantha in the new Sex And The City Movie if she received a substantial wage - because she was desperate for the money. Wow, Hollywood is ready getting on my nerves. For heavens sake, she’s an actress and has a lot of publicity and promotions to associate her persona with. I hope the movie turns out really fun and exciting, and may she get the highest pay. Kim broke a lot of trends and rules on Mainstream TV. She’s a total risk taker, divine and unique. Plus, she’s done alot of modeling from time to time. Attention to all movie executives “STOP TAKING ADVANTAGE HER”. More over I am certainly one of those who thinks that women should receive equal pay as what their male counter parts receive as salary for doing big budget movies.

Jason Statham Blasts Guy Ritchie’s ‘Jealous’ Critics

Filed under: Actors, Engagement, Friends, Movies, News — Tara @ 12:21 pm

jason-statham-photo.jpg

Jason Statham has defended director pal Guy Ritchie, insisting any criticism of his films is based on jealousy. The 35-year-old - who has worked with Ritchie on Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Revolver and Snatch - believes Madonna’s husband is subjected to criticism because he is so talented. There are positive criticism and negative ones too, you have to be able to differentiate between the good ones that are supporting your work but also drawing out the flaws and there are others who would do it just for the heck of it, they will just lament the movie a shit and give it bad ratings. I am sure that Jason will agree with me here, I think he is being supportive of his friend’s work and that great to see that there exists some good friendship in Hollywood’s cut throat competition even today. Support from close quarters can be very beneficial to a high stress worked up person. Jason keep it going this way.

People and fans were surprised to see him, which is ridiculous. There should be no surprise at all there should be happiness expressed to see him looking and smiling after so many days. People have this knack of cribbing over past things which would be best if forgotten after a few days of media frenzy. His suicide attempt took place in August and it is now October 6, so this suicide thing should be way out of our minds now and we should be happy to see him attend parties and lead a normal life. I think we kind remember such incident more and then keep talking about these things which inturn doesn’t let the victim forget what happened. We shout, speak and gossip and that poor chap is left to feel the burden of our useless talks, he think we are genuinely concerned where as the fact remains we just want make fun till we like and then to hell with what ever happened. For now though just leave him in peace and enjoy the release of his latest movie and tell the good reviews follow in.

Jackie Chan Not A Fan Of His Successful ‘Rush Hour’ Series

jackie-chan.jpg

Rush Hour put Jackie Chan in Hollywood’s major leagues, but the Hong Kong star isn’t a fan of his successful action comedy franchise. luv rush hour, 3 wasn’t as good as the first 2 but still good. But that’s also very strange, the movie that has helped him establish himself as a bankable Hollywood actor does not have a place in his own list of favorite movies. Most other Hollywood actors would say the absolute opposite of what Jackie has said, they would go on and on and on praising their successful movies and tell us stories about behind the scenes fun on the sets and off the sets. I think Jackie Chan is one of those actors whose personality is not to praise himself and tell others about his achievements and tell tall stories to make some press news that’s liked and talked about in the circles. He is so agile and entertaining in his actions scenes that he could go on forever and his movie would still be entertaining.

Aishwarya Rai will star in a film about the Taj Mahal, India’s famous marble monument to love. Ben Kingsley, who is producing the movie, says Rai agreed to do the film when he spoke to her during the shooting of ”The Last Legion,” a Hollywood epic about the Roman Empire. I have seen her on Television a few times and many people would be zapped by what I have to say about her, but trust me on this guys – Aishwarya Rai is amongst the most beautiful women on earth. She has the grace, the style and looks to match any of the world’s most beautiful models and actresses. But again that doesn’t guarantee Hollywood movies or international projects, she is a former model and does have international assignments to her credit but somehow Indian actors have never made the same impact as their Chinese counter parts.

Hollywood star George Clooney is so in love with the movie industry he is happy to work for free. The 46-year-old actor is determined not to let money get in the way of the projects he chooses to take on, so he is content to take a cut of the profit. Tell you what, this is one of the smartest comments I have heard come out of a Hollywood celebrity in recent months. He poses as if he doesn’t want a single cent from the producers and will work for free, he will only have a 10-15% share in the profits and if the movie becomes multi million dollar grosser then he will be the one laughing his way to the bank.Ha Ha if the movie your in is very good have big payday make 500 million around the world you maybe say get 10 per cent I think you would get at least that nice round cool 50 million for you to put right in your X@@##! hole bank.

Halle Berry to Play Aretha Franklin

aretha_franklin-photo.jpghalle-berry-photo.jpg
Aretha Franklin is such a huge piece of music history that she should definitely get a movie. A TV movie, on the other hand, seems a little crappy. I mean, think of the people that get major motion pictures?! Why wouldn’t they give Aretha Franklin a real movie? They can make movie on Catwoman, and some other really awful character and incident, but none of these guys/producers are willing to give a great legend a shot at big commercial movie. Now the funny part is that she wants a pencil thin actress like Halle Berry to play her. Currently even Halle cannot give her nod to play in her movie coz she is pregnant and has a growing bump. Why not that Jennifer Hudson play the part of Aretha, at least Jennifer could get close to being something like Aretha. Jennifer Hudson probably wouldn’t do it because she’s an Oscar winner and probably thinks she’s too good now, huh? But she’d be good for the role. Don’t you think?

Will Ferrell is auctioning a cameo spot in his new movie to raise money for a fraternity brother’s cancer foundation.will-ferrell-photo.jpg

Ferrell came up with the idea to help Craig Pollard’s Cancer for College foundation. The two were fraternity brothers at the University of Southern California.

Online bidding will begin Monday and close Sept. 26. Ferrell will announce the winner on Sept. 27, and that person will meet the actor the next day at the 14th annual Cancer for College golf tournament dinner at Temecula Creek Inn.

The opening bid for the movie appearance is $5,000.

In October, the winner will join Ferrell on set of his new movie, “Step Brothers,” and appear in a scene.

“What a perfect Christmas present for your son or daughter,” Ferrell said. “It is the surefire way to win the parent of the year award. Support this amazing cause, by buying them me.”

Pollard, a two-time survivor of Hodgkin’s disease, started Cancer for College to provide college scholarships to current and former cancer patients. The charity has awarded $200,000 to 50 cancer survivors since 1993.

James Bond tops ‘culture chart’

bond-james-bond-007.jpg

James Bond’s Casino Royale has topped the UK’s first “culture chart”, bringing together sales of DVDs, books, CDs and computer games in one rundown. The Casino Royale DVD sold 2.3 million copies in the first half of 2007, ahead of The Queen DVD in second place. James Bond is by far the best selling movies of all times, even if the recent reports that the movies of Harry Potter have sold more it ticket sales and out placed James Bond from the number one slot of all time box office sales, one thing that the people who have made this report would not have taken into consideration is that the first Harry Potter movie was released after 2000 and James Bond – the character and the movies series has being there for more than 40 years. To remain such an iconic movie for such a long duration and to be accepted to a wide generation of cinema goers is what gives the edge to James Bond in my opinion.

Brad Pitt Hates Paris Hilton

Wow, the list for ‘Paris Hilton Haters’ is just increasing by the day and the newest addition to the growing list is Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt. The last one I remember is Courtney Love. For those of you who dislike Brad Pitt because you think he cheated on Jennifer Aniston, guess what? I’ve got news that will make you forget about Jennifer and instill a love for Brad in your heart once more. He is annoyed by Paris Hilton being a fame-hungry skank! But Brad isn’t that the only thing why almost every person in Hollywood is there for, for the fame and the money and for living life in the fast lane and going bonkers for peanut like things. But can I tell you a thing Brad – you not so clean yourself, you couldn’t keep up with Jennifer and you actually cheated on her no matter what have to say about the whole episode and there have been news that Jolie too had throw you out of the house, you stink as has as Paris does. But the fact that he burned Paris Hilton is just priceless!

Halle Berry confirmed to Access Hollywood her happy baby news on Tuesday. The actress told the TV show, “Yes, I am three months pregnant! Gabriel [Aubrey] and I are beyond excited, and I’ve waited a long time for this moment in life. Now the next seven months will be the longest of my life!” Oh and good for her because her past men were ASSBAGS. Gabriel is so effin’ man-pretty! Many times the most intelligent looking woman fall for the most absurd looking guys and that’s one part of Halle that I never been able to quite fully understand.

Theron ‘wants US soldiers home’

Theron plays a detective looking for the missing soldier
Hollywood actress Charlize Theron, who is promoting her latest movie at the Venice Film Festival, has said she hopes US troops in Iraq can come home.
The 32-year-old stars in the film, In The Valley of Elah, based on the true story of a soldier who goes missing after serving in Iraq.

“Nothing would give me more joy than to see them back in America,” the Oscar-winning star said.

Tommy Lee Jones and Susan Sarandon play the missing soldier’s parents.

charlize-theron.jpg

Theron said: “[The soldiers] are doing a very, very important job and it’s a dangerous one. Hopefully they can come back and be looked after, that’s the least we can do for them.”

The movie is the second Iraq drama at this year’s festival - the first, Brian De Palma’s Redacted, premiered on Friday.

The Valley of Elah was written and directed by Paul Haggis, whose last film was the Oscar-winning Crash.

“I laugh when I hear these statements that Hollywood is jumping on the bandwagon because the American public is turning against the war,” Haggis said.

“We started work on the film in 2003, when the president had an 80% approval rating, everyone even in the neighbourhood where I live was driving around with flags on their cars, and the president was saying it was unpatriotic to even question this war,” he said.

He said financing the film was hard and thinks at the time it was “risky” to make.

Meanwhile, director Ken Loach also premiered his new film, It’s A Free World at the festival.

The movie takes a look at the exploitation of migrant workers in the UK.

Loach said he hoped it would generate attention on the plight of immigrants - legal or otherwise - who have flocked to the country from eastern Europe in recent years.

“On the one hand people say the economy couldn’t survive without the immigrant workforce. On the other, the right wing is saying, ‘Get these people out of our country’. It’s hypocrisy,” he said.

Angelina Jolie ends Iraq-Syria trip.

angelina-jolie-irak.jpg

Angelina Jolie saw firsthand the plight of conflict refugees stranded in the blazing desert near the Syrian-Iraqi border in a visit this week to highlight their ordeal.

The American actress, who is a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, traveled to Syria and Iraq on Monday and Tuesday, the agency said in a statement. Jolie also separately visited U.S. troops in the area.

“I have come to Syria and Iraq to help draw attention to this humanitarian crisis and to urge governments to increase their support for UNHCR and its partners,” Jolie was quoted as saying by the Geneva-based agency on Tuesday.

She headed home from Syria on Wednesday according to UNHCR officials, after a visit wrapped in secrecy and with no media coverage.

The 32-year-old star of the movie traveled to the al-Waleed refugee camp on the Iraqi side of the border and spoke to some of the 1,200 refugees stranded there, prevented from entering Syria, UNCHR said.

“It is absolutely essential that the ongoing debate about Iraq’s future includes plans for addressing the enormous humanitarian consequences these people face,” she said.

The camp is in a no man’s land between the two countries, one mile from the Iraqi border post and 4.5 miles from the Syrian border.

Jolie, who wore a blue flak jacket and a helmet when she arrived unannounced at the camp, was not immediately recognized by many of the refugees, a large number of whom are Palestinians who have been stranded in the desert encampment since December.

Unlike Iraqis, who are allowed to enter and settle in Syria, Palestinian residents of Iraq are mostly prevented from entering the country, leaving them stranded at the border.

Jolie spent two hours there talking with the refugees through a translator, taking notes, all the while surrounded by bodyguards, according to Qusai Mohammed Saleh, 33, a Palestinian refugee.

“I didn’t recognize her right away, but after she was introduced as Angelina Jolie, I remembered a little, from some of her movies,” he told The Associated Press by phone from the camp.

“She did not like the tragic situation,” Saleh said, adding that she inspected the camp’s medical and hygiene facilities.

Fellow refugee Awad Talha Awad, 48, said he had hopes the visit would make a difference. “Our situation is so difficult,” he said, adding that Jolie was “moved” by some of the conditions she witnessed.

“She felt the sun,” he said of the raging midday summer temperatures. “She did not make any promises but she said, ‘we will make an effort to resolve your situation.’”

UNHCR estimates that more than 4.2 million Iraqis have been displaced since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion, and of these, about two million have fled to neighboring countries, mainly Syria and Jordan, placing a heavy strain on their resources.

Samuel L. Jackson Visits Troubled Owen Wilson

owen.jpg

Samuel L. Jackson was among the well-wishers who visited Owen Wilson in the hospital on Monday. Jackson was in no mood to chat to the press gathered outside Los Angeles’ Cedars Sinai Medical Center when he arrived to spend a little time with his ailing pal. Some sources claim he cut his wrists and took a number of pills. I’m waiting for them to say he was hospitalized for “exhaustion.” Just wait for a couple days till when Owen’s reps come out with a planned conference or speech about the health of the actor, and then will be the time to see all the innocuous and funny excuses they will come up with. Well this really not the time to gag about his health and things. Let us leave him alone and recover coz once he’s out the barrage of question and counter gossips that would make headlines would drive him crazy, spare a thought for the poor guy.

Diana Remembered with Loving Words and Tears

Filed under: Celebrity, Movies, News, Photos — Tara @ 10:45 pm

A tear ran down the cheek of Prince William as his younger brother, Harry, spoke of their late mother, Diana, during Friday’s noontime service to the late princess at the Guards’ Chapel near Buckingham Palace in London.

princess-diana1.jpg

The solemn gathering marked the 10th anniversary of Diana’s death and had been organized by her two sons with Prince Charles. Included on the guest list were Queen Elizabeth, Charles and Diana’s friend, Elton John.

Outside the chapel, as has been the case every year on the date Diana died, her admirers gathered. Others, carrying and leaving floral bouquets, poems and photos, congregated outside the gates of Diana’s former home, Kensington Palace.

A prayer written for the memorial service by Rowan Williams, the archbishop of Canterbury, gave thanks “for all the memories of her that we treasure still.”

“Her vulnerability and her willingness to reach out to the excluded and forgotten touched us all; her generosity gave hope and joy to many. May she rest in peace where sorrow and pain are banished,” Williams wrote, the Associated Press reports.

Besides readings by William and Harry, who had been only 15 and 12 when their mother died, the service also featured a remembrance from Diana’s sister, Lady Sarah McCorquodale.

“It should be a good occasion and lots of loud hymns. It should be a very sort of simple and nice service,” Prince Harry said in a recent interview as the service approached.

In Paris, where the “People’s Princess,” as Diana had been nicknamed, died in a high-speed car crash alongside her lover, Dodi al-Fayed, several mourners gathered and left bouquets at the tunnel where the fatal incident occurred,.

A note, scrawled on a portrait of Diana in a jeweled crown, read: “10 years already, Oh how I miss you.” It was signed “Monique de Luxembourg.”

Midler wrongly fells 200 Hawaii trees

Filed under: Bad, Celebrity, Film, Movies, Music, Photos, Rumor, TV Show, Television, VIP — Tara @ 12:10 pm

Bette Midler cut down more than 230 trees around one of her properties on the island of Kauai without a permit, and the state has recommended she be fined.

The staff of the Board of Land and Natural Resources recommended $6,500 in fines for having the trees felled and for building a graded road without permits required for the land zoned for conservation use.

bette-midler.jpg

The singer and actress will pay the fines and will follow a replanting program, her attorney Max W. J. Graham said.

The actress and movie star, who was born in Honolulu, didn’t realize permits were needed to remove the trees on a vacant 58,000-square-foot parcel of land on Kauai’s North Shore, Graham said.

“The whole idea with cutting the trees down was with the idea of improving the lot with native species” instead of the nonnative, invasive species that had grown there, Graham said. “It’s unfortunate that a mistake was made.”

The National Tropical Botanical Garden, which maintains three gardens on Kauai, will design a replanting plan that consists of appropriate native plants, Graham said.

A botanist hired by Midler after the fact said 120 Java plum trees, 100 octopus trees and 10 to 20 Madagascar olive trees that were cut down were all nonnative species. Some native trees also were removed from the property, the botanist said.

Midler, known for her longtime commitment to the environment, was once known as the Compost Queen and appeared on billboards in Los Angeles advocating green recycling containers are for yard trimmings.

Midler is set to replace Celine Dion as a headline performer at Las Vegas’s renovated Caesars Palace next year.
