Madonna is pretty much expected to have a positive result this week regarding the adoption of David Banda but her exploits in Malawi don’t stop there. The Queen of Pop is said to be planning to build a multi-million dollar girls’ school in Malawi for underprivileged children this year as said by her local lawyer on Wednesday. Her lawyer Alan Chinula told Reuters “A task force of four prominent Malawians has already been formed to head the project which will be on the scale of what Oprah Winfrey has in South Africa.” Meanwhile, he also says that Madonna will not attend the final court ruling on her adoption bid because she is busy with other engagements.

Despite not being able to conquer the top spot in the UK, Mariah Carey has garnered the top spot in the albums’ chart in America this week. She only came in at #3 in the UK with the top spot going to The Kooks. Her ‘E=MC2’ record had been projected to sell around 500,000 units in the US. As of Wednesday, it was reported that the album debuted to a pretty massive sale of approximately 475,000 copies sold. Congratulations to Mariah on that one. Now, the countdown is on to see how well Madonna will do on her first week.

More Madonna Babies

Now that it’s pretty safe to say that Madonna will be able to keep her Malawian adopted son David Banda, new reports are coming out that the Queen of Pop wants to adopt again. This time around, she’s hoping to adopt a baby girl from India. It is being said that she’s planning to make the trip and the adoption after the promotional stuff for her new album ‘Hard Candy’ gets done. Madonna was in India with her family earlier this year and met with someone who supposedly talked her into adopting a child from India. I say that this is a complete rumor.

Madonna gives up adoption 2

Madonna has dramatically scrapped her two-year bid to adopt a Malawian girl.

Instead she will support the orphan financially from Britain.

The 49-year-old singer told aides she has been left “exhausted” by a mountain of red tape. Her adoption of Malawian son David Banda, two, was finalised this month. Pals were sure she would be bringing home Mercy, also two, as a sister for him.

But Madonna — who has two other children and is wed to Brit film director Guy Ritchie — feared another two years of legal wrangling.

A family friend said: “Madonna wanted to adopt a boy and a girl. But Mercy’s relatives objected and she had a complete turnaround. Everyone was stunned. Normally nothing will stop her. She now believes David will be the last child she adopts. Instead she will support orphans through her charity.”

Madonna’s marriage ‘hangs by a thread’

Madonna's marriage 'hangs by a thread'

Pop queen Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie have been living separate lives as their marriage hits the rocks, pals revealed yesterday. The troubled couple have even divided their homes into his and hers quarters – so they avoid each other, it was claimed.

They have shocked friends by spending months behaving as flatmates “who pass in the night” rather than husband and wife. Sources say the pair have both privately confessed that they do not think their seven-year marriage will survive much longer.

In January film director Guy, 39, furnished a wing of their new home in London’s Marylebone for his private use while Madonna, 49, took another quarter for herself.

A close pal said yesterday the couple tried to “reclaim the magic” with a romantic dinner – but immediately went back to living “like brother and sister”.

The pal said: “The marriage is hanging by a thread. No one doubts they adore their three kids – but the children seem to be the only reason they are living this strange loveless existence.”

Rumours about the couple’s problems have intensified in recent weeks.

It was claimed last night Madonna felt “badly let down” that Guy had not supported her at several high-profile public appearances. The source said: “There were rows after Guy didn’t turn up at Madonna’s Raising Malawi fundraiser at the UN HQ in New York last month. The event was incredibly important to her. Guy also wasn’t present at his wife’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame dinner last week.”

Madonna Gets a Grammy

Madonna Gets a Grammy

One of the first Grammy Awards to be handed out on Sunday went to the Queen of Pop, Madonna. The singer won for Best Long Form Music Video for her ‘Confessions’ tour at the pre-telecast ceremony. Congratulations to Madonna! I’m sure that once her new album comes out, she would get a lot more awards considering who she worked with on the album. Justin Timberlake and Timbaland have already proven how much of a powerhouse duo they are behind the sound boards and it’s sure to bring Madonna a good edge for next year’s awards.

Madonna’s adoption of malawi boy hits snag

U.S. pop star Madonna’s adoption of a child from the impoverished nation of Malawi hit a snag after the court-appointed official assigned to the case was denied permission to travel to Britain.

One of Malawi’s leading weekly newspapers reported on Sunday that Minister of Women and Child Development Kate Kainja had barred Penstone Kilembe from making his planned trip to assess the suitability of Madonna and her husband, film director Guy Ritchie, as the boy’s adoptive parents.

The minister was not immediately available for comment, but Kilembe confirmed the minister had stopped him making the trip.

Madonna was given custody of David Banda last October when he was 13 months old after his father, Yohane Banda, had placed him in an orphanage following the death of his wife.

The High Court of Malawi appointed Kilembe to travel to Britain twice and was to have relied on his testimony in ruling whether Madonna’s adoption of the child should be formalized in a hearing next year.

The Malawi News newspaper reported that the minister accused Kilembe of obtaining an air ticket and money from Madonna without government approval.

“We have already contacted Madonna that someone else and not Kilembe will come to asses her, because we feel Mr. Kilembe personalized the whole issue when other people can go,” the Minister told the newspaper.

Kilembe dismissed suggestions that he personally asked Madonna for an air ticket.

“What this means is that the whole adoption process may crumble and David sent back to his village,” he told Reuters.

Justin Dzonzi, a lawyer who led a 65-member human rights group in challenging Madonna’s adoption, also said the minister’s decision could halt the adoption process.

“The Minister cannot change what the court set by having another person to do the assessment. The court will not listen to anyone else apart from the one it appointed,” he said.

Dzonzi filed the case arguing that Malawi laws forbid international adoption and therefore the government broke its own laws by granting Madonna an interim adoption.
