  • Robert De Niro not planning to retire from acting

    Hollywood actor Robert De Niro isn’t planning to retire despite the fact he was recently given a Lifetime Achievement Award.

    De Niro, 66, recently attended AARP’s Movies for Grownups Awards, where he picked up the prize.

    He said: “I’ve only been doing this for about 40 years. It’s actually been longer, but what are they going to give me 40 years from now – the He Lived Too Long Award?”

    De Niro added: “A couple of critics suggested it was maybe time for me to retire. I’m still a kid – always a kid. And like most kids, I’m very happy for the approval of grownups. Thank you and see you at the Kids Choice Awards.”

  • Oscar contender Sandra Bullock nominated for a Razzie

    Sandra Bullock may be getting Oscar buzz for her role in The Blind Side but the actress has also just been nominated for a Razzie Award.

    The star has been named among the five Worst Actresses of the Year for her role in All About Steve, which was also nominated for Worst Picture.

    She joins Miley Cryus for Hannah Montana, Megan Fox for both Transformers and Jennifer’s Body, Beyonce for Obsessed and Sarah Jessica Parker for Did You Hear About The Morgans?

    The Worst Actor category includes the Jonas Bros for their movie Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience, Will Ferrell for Land Of The Lost, Steven Martin for Pink Panther 2, Eddie Murphy for Imagine That and John Travolta for Old Dogs.

    The Worst Picture nominees are All About Steve, G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra, Land Of The Lost, Old Dogs and Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen.

    The Razzie Awards are usually announced the day before the Academy Awards.

  • Beyonce Rocks the EMAs

    Beyonce looked absolutely smashing when she attended the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards last week which was held at the O2 Arena in Berlin, Germany. The 28-year old singer gave another memorable performance to her hit song ‘Sweet Dreams’. It was also a great night for Beyonce as she took home three awards, namely Best Video, Best Song and Best Female. Congratulations on the wins! I wonder if Kanye West was happy with those results or if he’s got something else to say. Yes, I’m still referring to that whole Taylor Swift incident at the VMAs. I highly doubt that it’s going to die anytime soon, if at all.

  • Kim Kardashian’s zip rip on way to Emmys

    Kim Kardashian’s cool ice-queen appearance at the Emmy Awards was a cover.

    The starlet had just escaped a major wardrobe malfunction. She jumped straight onto her blog to report the experience.

    Said Kardashian: “I had a major fashion emergency at the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards last night! I had this beautiful white gown by Ina Soltani and in the car on the way over my entire zipper ripped! It just popped! I freaked out and called my stylist Monica who was at the Emmys waiting for me with a needle and thread to sew up my entire dress!

    “It took about 30 minutes and I missed my live hit with Kourtney! I couldn’t believe it! But I made it in time to go to the show and the Emmys was such an amazing experience! It was my first Emmy awards and everyone was so glamourous! Drew Barrymore, Tina Fey, everyone was there! What a great show!”

    Kardashian had also gushed that making People Magazine’s Top 10 Best Dressed was so thrilling. She declared: “Yay!! I’m so thrilled I made People magazine’s Top 10 Best Dressed! I was voted best bikini style. This actually means a lot because it means all the effort I made to look good in those bikinis paid off!

    “This year I feel more confident and comfortable in my own skin than I ever have, which is why you’ve seen a lot more photos of me in swimwear this year, hahaha!”

  • Penelope Cruz gets another prize for Vicky Cristina Barcelona

    Spanish actress Penelope Cruz has picked up another prize for movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona by winning an ALMA award.

    Penelope, 35, stars in the Woody Allen-directed flick along with boyfriend Javier Bardem, 40, and Scarlett Johansson, 24.

    She has now picked up the film actress award at the 2009 ALMA awards, which recognise those Hispanic artists’ achievements in film, TV and music.

    Other gongs given out at the bash include movie Nothing Like The Holidays, starring Debra Messing, which won three prizes, including film actor of the year for John Leguizamo.

    Ugly Betty star Salma Hayek also received the Anthony Quinn Award for Industry Excellence and Rita Moreno presented a tribute to late star Ricardo Montalban.

  • Chris Brown’s Nickelodeon Awards is on the Kids


    Everyone is wondering about why Chris Brown is still up for two Kids’ Choice Awards. Instead of being responsible adults and taking a stance, Nickelodeon, which will air the awards show at the end of this month, is hiding behind the young voters. A Nick executive says that Chris “was nominated by kids several months ago, and the kids who vote will ultimately decide who wins in the category.” In not so many words, they’re saying we should blame it on the kids. Who needs adults to teach young minds why Chris isn’t the best role model when kids rule the whole planet?

  • Golden Globe was a family event for Tom Cruise


    While almost everyone came with their designer dresses, handsome men and beautiful women in tow, Tom Cruise came with her mother Mary Lee Mapother and his father-in-law Martin Holmes. Fans can finally add being family-loyal as one of Cruise’s idol points. Kate Holmes could not make it to the Golden Globe since she was wrapping things up at Broadway for her “All My Sons” play. Cruise said Kate insisted he should go to the Golden Globe so off he went but with their parents as his date. Kate will however join them for a post celebration. Cruise was a presenter for the Golden Globe Best Motion Picture-Drama Award which was won by Slumdog Millionaire.

    But it was not just Cruise who sported the “Family” theme during yesterday’s Golden Globe. Among the stars who also came with their parents are Miley Cyrus, Jeremy Piven, Kevin Connolly and Blake Livley. Even celebrity mother Susan Sarandon brought her son Jack Robbins as her date. And while Miss Golden Globe Rumer Willis did not really walk the red carpet with her mom, Demi Moore was also at the Golden Globe.

  • Critic’s Choice awardee Frieda Pinto gets star struck

    Slumdog Millionaire star Frieda Pinto is now a star in her own right after winning last Thursday’s 14th Annual Critics Choice Awards. And yet, Pinto got star-struck when Angelina Jolie walked towards her table and told her “I love your acceptance speech”. Pinto movie won Best Picture but for the star, meeting Jolie and Brad Pitt made her more than a winner. She admitted to getting star struck by Angelina but said both Brad and Jolie were a lovely couple.

    Pinto, who stars as Latika in Slumdog, got everyone’s attention with her classy but simple white drape dress. The movie swept the Awards with trophies for Best Film, Best Director, Best Young Actor for Dev Patel, Best Writer and best Composer. The Mumbai-based Indian actress finished schooling at Mumbai’s St. Xaviers College, before joining Bollywood. She was moonlighting as a model when she was discovered by director Danny Boyle for Slumdog Millionaire.

  • Russel Brand makes it big in the USA

    Congrats to UK’s best import so far!
    After a major role in the summer hit Forgetting Sarah Marshall, he hosted this year’s highly rated MTV Music Awards.
    And now he has, now, his very own one-off on Comedy Central! Congrats!!!
    According to news reports, Brand has been contracted by the channel of South Park to shoot a one-hour stand-up special.
    The special will feature the Brit funny man and ‘an eclectic roster of special guests’.
    It will tape in November (in the NYC) and is slated to air sometime in 2009.

    Congratulations are in order for the Jonas Brothers as their music video for ‘Burnin Up’ has been nominated for the 200 Video Music Award’s ‘Best Pop Video’ category. The other nominees up for the moon man include Britney Spears with ‘Piece of Me’, Danity Kane with ‘Damaged’, Tokio Hotel with ‘Ready, Set, Go!’ and Panic at the Disco with ‘Nine in the Afternoon’. Apart from being nominated, the band of brothers will also be debuting the second single from their new album ‘A Little Bit Longer’ during the VMAs which will air live from Paramount Studios in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 9PM ET.

    Britney Spears had an unforgettable performance at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t get another chance in 2008. President of MTV Networks Music Group Van Toffler said during a recent interview “Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right? I’m not sure how we top Britney opening the show. We are working on it every minute of every day.” This year’s MTV Video Music Awards airs live on September 7 from Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles. They will reportedly have performances and presentations take place anywhere between a sound stage to a roof to a sidewalk.

    After much speculation, it has been confirmed. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are expecting another child. This will be their second child together and will be their fifth child total. They have adopted children Maddox (age 6), Pax (age 4), and Zahara (age 3). They already have one birth child, Shiloh (age 1).

    Angelina finally showed the baby bump as she and Brad attended the Film Indeendent’s Spirit Awards on Saturday. A source close to them says, “They are very, very happy.”

Congratulations to Madonna! I’m sure that once her new album comes out, she would get a lot more awards considering who she worked with on the album. Justin Timberlake and Timbaland have already proven how much of a powerhouse duo they are behind the sound boards and it’s sure to bring Madonna a good edge for next year’s awards.

She said about being photographed with him last week “I had dinner with my ex-boyfriend and next thing I know there’s a debate about whether we’re having a family. We didn’t even talk about that. As I’ve maintained, we’re friends.”

    On Tuesday evening, the hotness that can only be called Kylie Minogue gave the Nobel Peace concert spectacular in Oslo, Norway a jolt of electricity when she gave a very high-voltage performance. Well, that’s what usually happens when you put a hot girl with some hot songs and hot moves on any stage for a performance.
