US-Irish Alliance to honour Saoirse Ronan, JJ Abrams and Seamus McGarvey

Saoirse Ronan, JJ Abrams and Seamus McGarvey will be honoured by the US-Ireland Alliance.
Actress Ronan, Abrams, a director, and McGarvey, a cinematographer-director, will be honoured at the fifth annual Oscar Wilde: Honouring the Irish in Film event to be held on March 4 at the Ebell of Los Angeles, just days before the Oscars on March 7.
Author Colum McCann will serve as master of ceremonies and the Irish band Bell X1 will perform.
Alliance president Trina Vargo said: “Academy Award nominees often feel the luck of the Irish from this event. Bill Monahan was honoured, and went on that year to win an Academy Award for The Departed. Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova performed at the event just before winning an Academy Award for their song Falling Slowly. Last year, three nights before winning her first Oscar, Kate Winslet took the stage to honour her agent, Hylda Queally.”
