The Twilight Saga: New Moon followed on from its record-breaking first weekend to bring in a record-making $42.5 million over the three-day Thanksgiving weekend.

The takings drove its cumulative box office to $230.7 million, which is the sixth highest of the year, just behind Star Trek, which took in $257.7 million.

Sandra Bullock’s The Blind Side – which took $40.1 million over three days – did well in second spot, holding its own for overall single-day ticket sales on Thanksgiving before Twilight took first place on Friday.

Many fans flocked to see Twilight more than once. Sarah Weiner, a young professional from of Marina Del Rey past her teens, has already seen it three times. She said:”The first time the girls in the theatre were so loud, screaming for their character as Edward or Jacob came on the screen. So the second time I heard more dialogue and really got into the story. Then, the third time I went with my girlfriends so we could discuss the entire movie over dinner afterward.”

She was speaking as she waited in line for a fourth showing.
