Court sets date to hear Roman Polanksi arguments

A California court set a date to hear oral arguments in the 30-year-old case against Oscar-winning fugitive director Roman Polanski.
The state’s appeals court will hear oral arguments on December 10 from Polanski’s attorneys about why it should require a lower court to rule on whether or not to dismiss the charges relating to alleged unlawful sex with a minor in 1977.
Despite the case recently coming back into the spotlight with Polanski’s arrest in Switzerland, the director had appealed in July a Los Angeles Superior Court decision not to dismiss the original criminal case because Polanski was not present.
He was set to lodge another bail request after two were knocked back by the Swiss for fear his flight risk is too high. Polanski’s lawyer Herve Temime said he was planning to offer a very significant cash amount. Polanski remains detained in a Zurich jail.
