Hollywood couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner buy new $17.5 million home

Movie couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have splashed out a cool $17.5 million on a cliffside ranch house with a history of Hollywood A-list owners.

The pair have bought the 8,000 square foot property in the exclusive Pacific Palisades neighbourhood of Los Angeles from producer Brian Grazer for $10 million less than the original asking price.

The one-storey home’s Hollywood history dates back to 1947 when it was bought by movie legend Gregory Peck.

Peck once filmed a TV beer commercial at the bar in his “den” at the property.

The house was built in the 1930s and has five bedrooms, a gym, swimming pool and eight bathrooms.

It is set in three acres and also has a guest house and an office/gym/art studio.

Producer Glazer, whose hit films include The Da Vinci Code, expanded and rebuilt the house in the mid-1990s to make the most of its stunning canyon, city and ocean views.
