  • Peter Andre’s new home

The singer who recently split from his wife, Katie Price, is apparently going to be buying a new house close to his old one in order to get the rights to the children. A source said the following about Peter Andre’s new home purchase: “Pete has found his dream home for him and the children. He spent a week house-hunting, but knew within seconds of seeing this place it was ideal.” The singer himself said the following to Katie Price about the house: “This is where I want the kids to be.” That’s probably just a pretext or a bonus. Peter Andre probably just wants to throw eggs at Katie Price from his own yard.

  • Mike Tyson’s guest spot in new film to be screened days after daughter’s death

A movie featuring Mike Tyson in a funny skit is to open days after the tragic death of the former boxer’s four-year-old daughter.

The Hangover is one of the most anticipated Hollywood comedies of the summer, with the Old School-type film set to make a star of actor Bradley Cooper.

But while trailers of the lads’ comedy shows the former heavyweight champion singing an out-of-tune version of In the Air Tonight, the 42-year-old is mourning the death of his child Exodus.

Tyson has cancelled all promotional appearances for The Hangover after his daughter accidentally hung herself on a lead attached to a treadmill in his Arizona home.

The film is about a bachelor-party-gone-wrong in Las Vegas. But executives at Warner Bros, the studio that made the film, are unable to edit the trailers, some of which feature Tyson heavily.

In the movie, the former champ sings Phil Collins’ classic ’80s tune while sitting at a piano.

In another scene, he plays air drums along to his favourite part of the song.

At the end, in his excitement, he knocks out one of the men with an impromptu punch.

The somewhat softened image of the convicted rapist ends with the friends driving away, one saying: “You know everyone says Mike Tyson is such a bada** but I think he’s a sweetheart.”

  • Katherine Heigl reportedly given heave-ho from film over salary demand

Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl has reportedly been dropped from an upcoming movie featuring Julia Roberts.

Insiders said Heigl was dropped from Valentine’s Day after demanding a salary of $3 million.

Valentine’s Day, to be directed by Garry Marshall, has a stellar cast that includes Ashton Kutcher, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Biel, Anne Hathaway and Shirley MacLaine.

A representative for Heigl said it was “ludicrous” to suggest that the actress, who starred in Knocked Up, had been dropped. Heigl had walked away from the project for multiple reasons, the representative said.

It is reportedly not known if Heigl, who has played the troubled Dr Isobel “Izzie” Stevens since 2005, will reappear in Grey’s Anatomy.

  • Russell Crowe struggles to find home near Welsh Robin Hood set

Russell Crowe is reportedly having trouble finding a rental property in Wales as the influx of summer tourists turns the market cutthroat.

Crowe will be in the area to film Robin Hood with director Sir Ridley Scott and reportedly had applications for two mansions in Pembrokeshire rejected.

A real estate agent, Nigel Jones, said: “A lot of the rental houses are summer or holiday lets and they’re already reserved. It may be difficult for someone like Russell Crowe to find a suitable house.

“The area is very popular and few properties priced at the £1.5 million mark will be up for rent. Often, sellers are not looking to rent. They want someone to buy their house.”

A Welsh website says the New Zealand-born Crowe’s great-grandparents were from Wrexham in north Wales. It notes the area may become more tourist heavy as a result of the movie and its celebs. Cate Blanchett will play Maid Marian.

Crowe has three trailers on the Robin Hood set and it is expected he will stay in them.

The newly trim actor reportedly spends hours each day working out in his motor home, which he has filled with gym equipment.

  • Mel Gibson pens children’s book for ten year old son

Father to be for the eighth time, Mel Gibson has been busy at work on a children’s book, the star told Jay Leno in his newsmaking interview on Leno’s Tonight Show.

The Lethal Weapon star said he has been working on a classic, poem-like kids’ story.

He revealed: “It’s in rhyming couplet. It’s Homeric. It’s kinda like a poem, an epic poem, and it’s got a lot of adventure and blood and guts.

“I wrote it for my ten year old son and he’s all ears. He’s like: ‘Oh what happens next?’ So I figure if he liked it, it works.”

But Gibson confirmed the book was still in the writing and not with a publisher, adding: “Well it’s not out anywhere, it’s on my desk.”

  • Ricki Lake pens book on childbirth and says labour brings back memories of abuse

Ricki Lake claims in a new book Your Birth that childbirth can summon up memories of the trauma of abuse, according to a US report.

Lake, who was herself abused at the age of six, explains the theory that loss of control of one’s body during childbirth can trigger memories of trauma.

“You can feel violated. I mean one in three women are sexually assaulted in some way, so those are a lot of women giving birth,” she said.

She urged caregivers to be very gentle with women during labour, because they are experiencing a loss of privacy and comfort level.

Ricki Lake said she has always been modest about her body and that she felt safer giving birth at home.

Lake had a midwife to assist in the birth of her now seven-year-old son, Owen, which was featured in a 2008 documentary The Business of Giving Birth.

She ventures into some taboo areas, discussing nipple stimulation by a partner to help start labour, as well as orgasms, noting: “I can’t say I had an orgasm when I gave birth. I did not have that.”

  • Peter Andre was reportedly locked out of the 3million mansion he shares with wife Katie Price after she reportedly changed the security alarm code following their split

Peter Andre was reportedly locked out of the £3million mansion he shares with wife Katie Price after she reportedly changed the security alarm code following their split.

Katie, 30, is preparing to jet back to the UK from her Maldives resort for crisis talks with hubby Peter, 36, after they announced their separation.

Peter is said to be staying with his manager Claire at her West Sussex home.

A pal said: “They have both tried to keep the break-up as civilised as they can, but with emotions running so high, this has proven nigh-on impossible.”

Katie flew to the Maldives with the couple’s two children Junior, three, and Princess Tiaamii, one, while her older son Harvey remained in the UK.

The pal added: “Pete’s main priority now is to see his children, and spend some much-needed time with them. He is house-hunting, looking for a place to rent with an option on it to buy.”

The pal added: “Kate’s made it clear he can’t go back to their current home and as they sold their old place in Brighton, Pete is technically homeless.”

The pal added: “He’ll be moving his stuff out piecemeal over the next few days, and has enlisted his brothers to help him choose a new pad. It must be within a 30-minute drive of his kids.”

The pal added: “I don’t think either Pete or Kate wanted to divorce – but sadly that’s the way it all seems to be heading. Pete’s is a real family man and is desperate for joint custody of the children, so he doesn’t want to upset or antagonise Kate any more than he has to.”

  • Matrix star Monica Bellucci was burgled as she attended the closing ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival

Matrix star Monica Bellucci was burgled as she attended the closing ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival.

Monica, 45, and husband Vincent Cassel appeared on TV from the south of France and later found their Paris apartment had been burgled and over £80,000 of cash had been stolen.

The burglars also got away with jewellery as well as computer and video equipment worth more than £160,000. The Italian actress’ passport was also stolen in the burglary.

An officer investigating the burglary said: “It was clearly a meticulously planned burglary.”

The officer added: “The thieves are believed to have struck just as the stars were appearing on television in Cannes on Sunday evening. They entered the fourth-floor apartment via a balcony, smashing a window in the process.”

The officer added: “Then they pretty much cleared the flat out of anything that was valuable and could be removed easily.”

The officer added: “There have been plenty of cases of the homes of professional footballers being targeted while they are playing in high-profile matches, but this appears to be the first time that the same kind of thing has happened to actors.”

  • Mel Gibson says pregnant girlfriend ‘man’ enough for Rachmaninoff

Talking up girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva’s talents, Mel Gibson told the world that she is an accomplished musician who can play Rachmaninoff.

“I mean she can play. She was trained in Russia,” he said excitedly, his voice speeding up in an interview with Jay Leno

Gibson confirmed Grigorieva is pregnant with his eighth child on the show.

Grigorieva had “singlehandedly” written, performed and produced an album, he said admiringly.

“Rachmaninoff, I mean there’s very few people who are man enough for Rach-man-inoff,” Gibson told Leno in the last week of the 17-year-running show.

Leno deadpanned that he assumed she has a “nice Rachmaninoff.”

The Hollywood superstar said his 39-year-old girlfriend is an artist in her own right in Russia.

The interview also aired on prime-time television in Australia, the home country of his wife Robyn Moore, and critics were cynical and commented on the friendship between Gibson and Leno as a basis for a soft interview.

  • Brad Pitt has a hazy recollection of accepting role in Tarantino’s new movie Inglourious Basterds

Brad Pitt has revealed that his appearance in Quentin Tarantino’s latest movie came after the pair enjoyed a boozy session and a “smoking apparatus”.

The 45-year-old movie star spoke at a screening of Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds at the Cannes Film Festival – confessing he couldn’t remember agreeing to make the film.

Pitt said: “Quentin came to visit some time at the end of the summer – we talked about backstory, we talked about movies – I get up the next morning and see five empty bottles of wine right on the floor, five, and something that resembles a smoking apparatus – I don’t know what that was about – and apparently I had agreed to do this film.”

Pitt plays an American army officer leading a group of Jewish-American soldiers around Europe taking violent revenge on Nazis in the Second World War movie.

  • Julianne Moore to play Hilary Clinton

Oscar nominee Julianne Moore is lining up for a role as Hilary Clinton, it was reported.

Moore says that although the film won’t be shooting for quite a while, she is deep in preparation.

“Right now I’m watching a lot of videotape and I’m doing a lot of reading,” she said in TV footage from the food event, Battle Of The Chefs, for which she was a judge.

“I won’t be shooting it for quite a while, so I am at the very, very beginning of my work on it. I have yet to meet with the hair and make-up people. I’m sure there’ll be a wig and make-up and everything like that.”

Moore will work with Dennis Quaid in The Special Relationship to be directed by Peter Morgan.

Dennis Quaid will play Bill Clinton, while Michael Sheen will play Tony Blair in the production.

Moore worked with Quaid in Far From Heaven, directed by Todd Haynes.

  • Whoopi Goldberg: I laid bricks to pay for acting career

Whoopi Goldberg worked as a bricklayer and a make-up artist for a mortician to pay for her acting career.

Goldberg told a UK newspaper: “I was young, homeless and addicted to heroin. I’d dropped out of high school and into drugs. Simple as that. I was a child of the 60s, so I ingested as many mind-altering substances as I could. It was a rite of passage. And when I got clean I was convinced I wanted to be an actor. I just needed a bit of time to convince the acting profession. So, in between, I needed a job.”

Goldberg says she took to bricklaying: “I figured I’d rather lay bricks than lay men for money.”

Another job she took was putting make-up on corpses. “I was good,” she recalled.

  • Michael Johns to Perform on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

Former American Idol finalist, MICHAEL JOHNS will be performing his new single “Heart on My Sleeve” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show next Monday, May 25th. The Aussie vocalist will be releasing his first post-Idol solo album, Hold Back My Heart on June 23rd. Encouraged by his mentor David Foster, who invited Johns to appear on his star-studded David Foster And Friends PBS special in December 2008, Johns chose the road less traveled, and for the first time in his adult life, went to work on an album with no deal in place. “Foster always said that the secret of his success is to look at whatever lane is open in the music industry and take it,” Johns recalls. “And the way my record combines old and new, I could open for Alicia Keys one night and John Mayer the next, it’s right in the middle.” Songwriter Diane Warren, who penned the knee-buckling ballad “Heart Is Weak,” was another key endorsement. “There’s nothing more validating than having these heavyweights behind you,” says Johns. “It’s like screw winning American Idol when people like David Foster and Diane Warren are saying you have the real thing here.”

With an album completed and ready to turn in, Johns had the rare freedom to shop it around, and when Downtown Records, home to Gnarls Barkley, Cold War Kids and Santigold, showed interest in a licensing deal, he jumped at the opportunity to finally control his own fate. “I think we’re in the most exciting period of music ever, because there’s so many ways to do it,” he says. And like most of his plans thus far, Johns is thinking big for his future. “The live show is going to be great,” he says excitedly. “I might even take it old school with different bands in different towns — almost like what Chuck Berry and all those guys used to do.”

Tune in to see Michael Johns on The Ellen DeGeneres Show next Monday, May 25th. Check your local listings for times.

  • Quentin Tarantino won over Brad Pitt with five bottles of wine

Brad Pitt, a father of six, somehow found time to down five bottles of wine before saying yes to a role in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds.

The film with its deliberately misspelt title has set Cannes abuzz at its premiere and Pitt has been warm to the press. One American television reporter got close enough to pinch his cheek while interviewing him.

Pitt said of Tarantino’s invitation: “He had me at ‘hello’.”

“Quentin came to visit with the script. We talked about the backstory and about movies. I got up the next day and there were five empty bottles of wine lying on the floor – five – and something resembling smoking apparatus. I don’t know what that was about.

“Somehow I agreed to do the movie and six weeks later I was in a uniform playing Aldo Raine.”

Tarantino has tagged the World War 11 story a “Jewish revenge fantasy”.

The Pulp Fiction director has not shed any light on the film’s odd title, which was inspired by Enzo Castellari’s 1978 movie Inglorious Bastards.

He said: “Here’s the thing. It’s not a typo. I’m never going to explain it. When I do an artistic flourish like that, to describe it would be to invalidate the whole process.”
