50 Cent is suing US fast food chain Taco Bell for using his name in a ‘guerrilla’ advertising campaign.
The ‘In Da Club’ singer, real name Curtis Jackson, is asking for over $1 million in damages from the company - who asked him to change his name to 79 Cent, 89 Cent or 99 Cent to promote their food.
The suit reads: “Taco Bell traded on the name of the world’s biggest hip-hop star to draw attention to its new, hip-hop-based advertising campaign, and thereby generated massive publicity for its business.”
Taco Bell President Greg Creed wrote to the singer earlier this year, promising to donate $10,000 to his favourite charity if he agreed to change his professional tag. He wrote: “We know that you adopted the name 50 Cent years ago as a metaphor for change. We at Taco Bell are also huge advocates for change. We encourage you to ‘Think Outside the Bun’ and hope you accept our offer.”
50 is upset his fans are accusing him of ’selling out’ by agreeing to promote the brand’s value menu, not realising the adverts were unauthorized.
Amy Winehouse has revealed she wants at least five children and twins.
The troubled singer insists she and husband Blake Fielder-Civil - who this week was sentenced to 27 months in prison for GBH (grievous bodily harm) and perverting the course of justice - are ready to start their family.
She said: “I love kids. To be honest, I think kids have got a lot more going on than adults. They’ve got their heads screwed on a lot better. Blake and I can’t wait to have kids. I want at least five kids, and I want twins. Blake is going to be the most amazing dad. When Blake was about we talked about it all the time. We’d like to have identical twins. Blake had a dream that we had a girl who was dark like me. And then I had a dream that I had one older, like 18 months old, dark like me and identical twin babies. I want twins so I’ll keep going until we have them.”
Amy also revealed she would be just as happy with Blake if she was a housewife.
She added: “I really enjoy ironing. If I was a housewife with Blake we would like in Camden. Blake would work from home. He’s got all his cameras at home and his projector, and he would just live in his little editing room and edit his films. And I’d sing to him.”
Britney Spears was looking the best she has in a long time when she came out to support comedy couple Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy as they hosted Generation Rescue’s celebrity fundraiser in Los Angeles this past weekend. Generation rescue is an international movement of scientists, physicians and parents who are focused on research and treatment to recover children with autism. The organization is already helping over 20,000 children begin biomedical treatment. I wonder if Britney was one of them. Jenny, now a member of the board of the organization, became an activist for the cause after her son Evan was diagnosed with autism.
