Keira Knightley is $6,000 Richer
The beautiful actress Keira Knightley, one of the most loved actresses in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” trilogy just won libel damages worth $6,000 from the Daily Mail newspaper. The magazine published an article with a picture of her in a bikini with the huge headline:
“If Pictures Like This One of Keira Carried a Health Warning, My Darling Daughter Might Have Lived.”
It is needless to say that this headline made her mad. I think anyone would get upset if such an article would be about him/her. Keira’s lawyer, Simon Smith stated that:
“The article could be interpreted to have asserted that the claimant bore personal responsibility for causing the tragic death of Sophie Mazurek, a 19-year-old, who battled with anorexia.”
This is a little bit taking it too far but what is important is that she won and although $6,000 is not really much for her, such articles should not be published, not with that headline anyway.
